THREAT INVESTIGATION INVOLVING LEXINGTON ISD

LEXINGTON, TEXAS -- On December 9, 2025, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received information regarding a threat directed toward the Lexington Independent School District. The on-site School Resource Deputy immediately coordinated a joint law enforcement effort alongside the Lee County Sheriff's Deputies, Lexington Police Department and Lee County Constables of Precincts 2, 3, and 4 to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
Through a prompt and thorough investigation conducted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, investigators determined that the threat was made by a 17-year-old student. After the source of the threat was identified, law enforcement remained present for student release at the end of the school day. Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained from Lee County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Judge Don Milburn.
On December 11, 2025, the suspect surrendered to the Sheriff's Office, was taken into custody and booked into the Lee County Jail. The name of the student was provided to LISD school administration in accordance with State law. Due to the age of the individual, no further identifying information will be released at this time.
Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger commends the swift response and professionalism of all agencies involved, including the Lexington Police Department and the Constables of Precincts 2, 3, and 4. Additionally, the Sheriff's Office recognizes and appreciates the strong working relationship with Lexington Independent School District administration, whose cooperation and communication were instrumental in ensuring a timely and effective response.
Earlier in the day on December 9, 2025 - the Lexington Police Department and Lee County Constable Precinct 3 assisted the U.S. Marshals with a traffic stop that took place near LISD. The school was placed into lockdown out of an abundance of caution. That individual was arrested without incident and booked into the Lee County Jail.
The safety of our schools and community remains a top priority. The Lee County Sheriff's Office takes all threats seriously and encourages anyone with information regarding potential threats or suspicious activity to report it immediately to law enforcement.
