SHERIFF GARRETT DURRENBERGER THANKS DONORS FOR SUPPORT OF SHERIFF'S OFFICE MRAP ARMORED VEHICLE

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the addition of an MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) armored vehicle to its fleet. This specialized vehicle, valued at approximately $800,000, was obtained at no cost to the taxpayers of Lee County through a federal program.
While the vehicle itself was acquired free of charge, preparing it for service required community support. Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger extends his sincere gratitude to the local partners whose generosity made this possible:
- Gold Equipment - for donating the prep work and professional painting services.
- Flat Rock - for donating the transportation services to move the MRAP into Lee County.
- LCLESO - for assisting with ballistic window repair to ensure the vehicle's safety features are fully operational.
"The addition of this armored vehicle significantly enhances the Sheriff's Office ability to respond to high-risk incidents and protect both the citizens of Lee County and our deputies," said Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger. "This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community partners. Their donations of time, labor, and expertise demonstrate the strong bond between our office and the people we serve."
The MRAP armored vehicle will be deployed in situations where enhanced protection is necessary-such as active shooter events, hostage rescues, and natural disaster response-ensuring that deputies can carry out their duties as safely and effectively as possible.
Sheriff Durrenberger emphasized that the vehicle will stand as both a safeguard for law enforcement officers and a life-saving resource for the residents of Lee County.
