LIFESAVING AWARD PRESENTED TO LCSO JUNIOR DEPUTY

Kylie Plumley, a proud 2025 graduate of the Lee County Sheriff's Junior Deputy Academy, demonstrated exceptional courage, composure, and decisive action during a critical moment that exemplifies the highest ideals of public service.

On May 16, 2025, while attending a birthday party in Giddings, Kylie was swimming with classmates when she observed a fellow student unresponsive and face-down in the pool. Without hesitation, Kylie immediately pulled her friend from the water and shouted for help. Her rapid assessment and decisive action enabled adults at the scene to initiate CPR and summon emergency medical services.

Because of Kylie's awareness, bravery, and quick thinking, a life was saved that day.

Kylie's actions are not only a reflection of her training as a Junior Deputy and the values instilled by her family-her mother a dedicated 20-year veteran dispatcher with the Lee County Sheriff's Office-but also a testament to the mission and core values of our agency: Courtesy, Honesty, Integrity, and Purpose.

When the Junior Deputy Academy was created, a key component included training from Lee County EMS, with the hope that our youth would be prepared to act in a medical emergency. Kylie proved the importance of that vision.

In recognition of her life-saving actions, it is my distinct honor to present Junior Deputy Kylie Plumley with the first-ever Lee County Sheriff's Office Junior Deputy Lifesaving Award.

Please join me in congratulating this remarkable young woman for her heroism and unwavering commitment to others.

Respectfully,

Garrett Durrenberger

Sheriff
