DEPUTIES RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE, METHAMPHETAMINES AND FENTANYL DURING TRAFFIC STOP
LEE COUNTY, TX - On January 5, 2026 at approximately 1:10pm, a Lee County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a black SUV traveling westbound on State Highway 21 near US Highway 77 for a traffic violation.
Upon making contact with the male driver and female passenger, the Deputy detected the odor of marihuana emitting from the vehicle. The Deputy also confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Harris County. Another Deputy arrived to assist, and the duo was detained and a probable cause search was conducted.
Deputies located methamphetamines, fentanyl, and a handgun in the vehicle. Deputies also recovered numerous suspicious items consistent with identity theft and fraud: multiple pieces of mail addressed to various individuals, debit cards, credit cards, checks, passports, credit card machine, and various keys to postal mail boxes.

The following were arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail:
Adam Alan Mounkes (age 42) of Freeport, TX
- Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon (3rd Degree Felony)
- Possession of Controlled Substance (State Jail Felony)
- Unauthorized Use of Vehicle (State Jail Felony)
Julicet Gonzalez (age 29) of Houston, TX
- Possession of Controlled Substance (3rd Degree Felony)
The Lee County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the on-going investigation along with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, with additional charges pending. There is no additional information to release at this time, as this is an active and on-going investigation.
