October 17 - October 23, 2022

 

October 17, 2022

0033 - A caller reported a reckless driver on Hwy 77 heading north. Sergeant McAnally was in the area but was unable to locate the vehicle described.

0757 - A caller reported a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 290 east of the city limits. Driver is okay, no injuries reported. Deputy Webber responded and made contact with the driver. No property damage and vehicle was pulled from the ditch.

1423 - A complainant reported that someone stole his gate and the incident was recorded on a dash cam. Deputy Dickerson made contact with complainant and individual with dash cam. Deputy Dickerson was able to determine who took the gate and made contact. Complainant advised he would not press charges if gate was returned. Gate was returned without incident. No charges were filed.

1736 - A caller reported 6 head of cattle out on CR 114.

1745 - A caller reported loose calves on Hwy 77 south of Hwy 21. Deputy Strouth responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

1750 - A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked on CR 309; vehicle had been there for approximately 30 minutes. Deputies Dickerson and Dudley responded and information was reported on the vehicle.

1830 - A complainant reported a male subject breaking into his home on CR 309. Subject was seen on camera. Deputies Dickerson and Dudley responded to the location. No one was there when Deputies arrived but he garage door was open and unsecured. Complainant was on his way to the location and will contact Sheriff's Office when he arrives so theft report can be taken.

1834 - A 911 call was received with caller stating he was going to set himself on fire. Deputy Strouth made scene as well as Giddings PD. Subject was detained and fire department was paged as well as Lee County EMS. Building was evacuated and fire was contained to a mattress. Subject was found to have a warrant out of Fayette County. Subject was arrested for arson and booked into Lee County Jail.

1955 - A caller reported a cow out on CR 122 near CR 127. Sergeant Jones was enroute when he initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle that was traveling 100+ miles per hour on FM 180. Subject was found to have an active warrant out of Bexar County. Subject was arrested and booked into Lee County Jail. Unit was unable to make scene with loose livestock.

1955 - Complainant on CR 309 that had previous call at 1830 regarding unknown subject at his house arrived on scene. Deputy Strouth responded to scene to take a report.

                  

October 18, 2022

0046 - Deputy Strouth advised of a suspicious vehicle parked behind Zochnet on Hwy 77. After arrival it was determined vehicle belonged to the company; all checked out okay.

0725 - A caller reported a two vehicle accident on Hwy 290 west across from Altman Plants. Caller advised everyone was okay. Deputies Dickerson and Dudley responded, along with Giddings VFD and Lee County EMS. A crash report was taken.

0817 - A caller reported a cow out on Hwy 77. Deputy Webber responded and checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

0844 - A caller reported cows out on CR 106 and CR 107. Deputy Webber responded and was able to run the cows off the roadway.

1040 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 180. Deputy Dudley responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

1042 - A caller reported a cow and calf out on FM 1624 near the Fedor Fire Station. Deputy Dudley responded and was able to secure the livestock in a nearby pasture.

1221 - A complainant called regarding her neighbor's aggressive dogs. Deputy Dickerson made contact with complainant and will go out and meet with the neighbor's when they return home.

1400 - Lieutenant Mastronardi, Sergeant Adams and Constable Stephens conducted a follow up on a case on CR 312. Deputies Dickerson and Dudley assisted.

1737 - A caller reported animal cruelty regarding horses on CR 133. Sergeant Jones responded to the location.

1829 - Sergeant Jones came across cows out on CR 106 and CR 107. The cows were put up and an owner was located.

1943 - A caller asked to speak with a Deputy about her easement and other concerns. Sergeant Jones contacted the caller and spoke with her.

 

October 19, 2022

0622 - Giddings PD advised there was an 18-wheeler blocking lanes of traffic on FM 141. Corporal West responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

0742 - A caller reported donkeys loose on CR 119. Deputy Young responded.

1035 - A complainant came into the Sheriff's Office to speak to a Deputy about a No Contact Order. Corporal West met with complainant.

1241 - Deputy Young was conducting a traffic stop on CR 205 and determined that the temporary tag was not valid; the VIN had been scratched off.  Driver was detained but released. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the Sheriff's Office.

1502 - A complainant called to report a stolen skidsteer bucket. Sergeant Ray responded to FM 180 and a report was taken.

1750 - A complainant came into the Sheriff's Office to speak with someone regarding threats received. Deputy Young met and spoke with complainant and an information report was taken.

1755 - Multiple callers reported a cow out on FM 141. Sergeant McAnally responded and cow was secured off the roadway.

1928 - A caller reported two cows out on Hwy 21 west of the Welch Store. Deputy Haman responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

2035 - Giddings PD requested assistance for a combative male subject being booked into Lee County Jail. Sergeant McAnally, Deputy Haman and Trooper Pennartz responded.

2043 - Milam County reported a bull out on FM 619 approximately half a mile from the County Line. Deputy J. Brown responded and bull was removed from the roadway.

 

October 20, 2022

0149 - Deputy J. Brown conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 290 and CR 205. Sergeant McAnally and Deputy Haman responded for assistance. Subject was detained and a PC search conducted. Everything checked out okay and subject was released.

0705 - A caller reported a cow out on Hwy 77 north of Giddings. Deputy Young responded and cow was put up.

0845 - A 911 call was received reporting cows out on FM 1624. Deputy Young responded and cows were secure at a residence on PR 8017.

0855 - A caller reported a deer lying in the middle of FM 696 north of CR 309. Corporal West responded and checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

0943 - A caller reported a cow out on Hwy 77 north of Hwy 21. Deputy Young responded and cow was secured off the roadway.

1104 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 141 near Middle Yegua Bridge. Corporal West responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

1230 - A 911 call was received reporting cows out on Hwy 77 south of Lexington. Sergeant Ray and Deputy Webber responded but were unable to locate any loose livestock.

1231 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 1624 near Fedor Church. Sergeant Ray responded and cows were secured off the roadway.

1320 - A caller reported 2 cows in the middle of FM 1624 near Fedor Fire Station. Deputy Young responded.

1423 - A caller reported someone burning brush near a home and no one could be seen near it. Captain Allen responded but was unable to locate any brush fire.

1753 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 696 east. Deputy Haman responded and cow was removed from the roadway.

1904 - A caller reported a crash involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles on CR 305 near FM 696. Sergeant McAnally, Deputy Haman and Trooper Pennartz responded. All parties refused EMS; Blue VFD was page for traffic control. The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash was arrested for impersonation of an officer and booked into Lee County Jail.

2035 - A caller reported two cows out on FM 696 past the cemetery. Deputy J. Brown responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

 

October 21, 2022

0423 - A caller reported a crash on Hwy 290 between CR 139 and FM 180 involving an 18-wheeler and a cow. Driver refused EMS. Deputies Haman and J. Brown responded and a report was taken.

0756 - Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dickerson and Dudley arrested a male subject on a warrant for Failure to Comply/Register Sex Offender.

1207 - A caller reported cows out on CR 226. Deputy Dickerson located and remove the livestock from the roadway.

1325 - A caller reported a small fire on Austin Street. Giddings VFD, Deputies Webber and Dickerson responded. The fire was put out.

1402 - A caller reported a vehicle on the side of FM 141 occupied by a male and female. Deputy Webber made contact with the subjects; they had run out of gas and were waiting for someone who was bringing them gas.

1635 - A caller reported cows out on Hwy 77 at The Middle Yegua Bridge. Deputy J. Brown responded.

1729 - A caller requested assistance checking on a trailer on CR 226. Sergeant Adams responded and trailer was secure.

1854 - A caller reported cows out on FM 1624 near Fedor Estates. Deputy Strouth located and livestock and secured them off the roadway. Landowners were contacted and Deputy Strouth repaired a part of the fence.

1900 - Sergeant Jones assisted Giddings PD with a call; all checked out okay.

1910 - A motorist reported a vehicle swerving all over Hwy 77 headed northbound. Sergeant Jones and Deputy Strouth located the vehicle but no violations were observed. During observation of the reported vehicle, Sergeant Jones was almost hit by a passing vehicle; vehicle was stopped.

2028 - The Bullpen called to report a male subject making threats to staff and his family member. Dispatch made contact with the family member who stated subject was intoxicated but was not at the house but while on the phone with Dispatch, subject came into the house. Sergeant Jones and Deputy Strouth responded.  Upon arrival, family member advised that subject had left again possibly enroute back to The Bullpen. The male subject was located at Buccee's.

2259 - A complainant reported loud music and damage to a fence on Willow Creek Drive. Sergeant Jones and Deputy Strouth responded and made contact with all parties involved.

 

October 22, 2022

0906 - A caller reported two horses at the trailer park on Hwy 290. Deputy Dickerson responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock at the trailer park or on the highway.

1058 - Phillips and Lucky requested a funeral escort. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dickerson and Dudley assisted.

1107 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 141 near Nails Creek Bridge. Sergeant Holloway responded but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

1220 - A complainant came into the Sheriff's Office to file a theft report. Deputy Dudley met with complainant and a theft report was taken.

1228 - A complainant reported someone pumping water out of the Cummings Creek. Deputy Dickerson met with complainant. Deputy Dickerson determined no violation had occurred.

1242 - Lang Funeral Home requested a funeral escort. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dickerson and Dudley assisted.

1432 - A complainant reported her estranged husband threatened her and told her he was on his way to her residence. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dudley and Dickerson met with complainant. Estranged husband did not go to the residence. Information was taken for a report.

1448 - A caller reported a disabled vehicle on Hwy 290 near the entrance to the Rodeo Arena. Sergeant Holloway checked out with the vehicle which has a flat tire.

1711 - A motorist reported a large cattle hauler swerving all over the roadway on Hwy 77 heading southbound. At the time of the call, vehicle was passing Hwy 21. Deputy Dickerson located and followed the vehicle for several miles; no traffic violations were observed.

1713 - A caller requested assistance with his vehicle; his battery is dead and needs a boost. Sergeant Holloway and Deputy Dudley responded to location on Westwood Lane. Deputy Dudley was able to get the car started.

2208 - Giddings PD requested assistance after locating a vehicle at First National Bank that was unlocked, unoccupied and had credit cards in it. Deputy Strouth was enroute when cancelled by Giddings PD; vehicle owner was contacted.

2221 - A complainant reported loud music on Willow Creek. Sergeant Jones checked the area; the music was not loud and gunshots were coming from an area in Bastrop County.

 

October 23, 2022

0015 - Deputy Strouth checked out with two vehicles at the Lexington High School. All was okay and the subject left the area.

0100 - Deputy Strouth conducted a traffic stop at Rockdale and 3rd Street. All Subject were identified, a PC search was conducted. All subjects were released to adults.

0101 - Sergeant Jones came across two vehicles in the roadway on CR 316. All subject identified and a PC search was conducted. One subject was cited and released; another driver will drive the vehicle.

0216 - Washington County reported a possible stolen vehicle headed eastbound on Hwy 290 into Lee County. Vehicle was occupied by three occupants and possibly armed. Giddings PD located the vehicle and attempted to stop it; vehicle did not stop and a pursuit began. Sergeant Jones joined in the pursuit which turned off of Hwy 290 northbound onto Hwy 77. Deputy Strouth joined the pursuit and Milam County was notified. Milam County was able to lay spikes on Hwy 77; vehicle hit the spikes and came to a stop on Hwy 77 in Milam County. The vehicle was towed to Giddings PD and all three subjects were arrested and booked into Lee County Jail.

0836 - A caller reported two cows and one calf on her property and does not know who they belong to. Deputy Dickerson responded and was able to run them back onto the property where they belong.

0844 - A caller reported loose cows on CR 114. Sergeant Holloway responded and was able to run the livestock off the roadway.

1015 - A complainant reported a vehicle parked in the bar ditch next to an empty lot occupied by a male and female. Complainant stated the vehicle had been parked a while. Sergeant Holloway and Deputy Dudley located the vehicle parked at a residence, unoccupied. Sergeant Holloway and Deputy Dudley met with complainant who stated there had been a verbal disturbance that had taken place the day before.

1218 - ASI called to report a commercial burglar alarm on CR 208. Sergeant Holloway responded and checked the perimeter. All was secure.

1241 - A complainant called and reported a male subject walked onto her property on Hwy 21 and tried to take her dog. The subject was confronted by the complainant and he left on foot walking towards a car parked on the side of the road, she then saw him walking towards a house next door. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dudley and Dickerson responded and located the vehicle that had drug paraphernalia and marijuana in plain view. Subject was found and detained. A PC search was conducted. Other items and a weapon were located in the vehicle. Subject was taken into custody for possession of marijuana and unlawful carry of a weapon.

1436 - A complainant reported hearing gunfire behind her property. Caller stated there were multiple shots fired and a vehicle driving down the road at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dickerson and Dudley responded and checked the surrounding area. No gunfire heard in the area.

1649 - An employee with Dollar General on Hwy 77 requested a Deputy to discuss a CTW. Sergeant Holloway, Deputies Dudley and Dickerson met with complainant. A CTW was served to a female subject.

2109 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 1697 near CR 124. Sergeant Jones was enroute when another caller reported that someone had hit the cow but left the scene. Sergeant Jones made contact with a possible owner and the cow was removed from the roadway.

2259 - A caller reported a vehicle parked in the roadway on Hwy 290 west near Altman Plants. Deputy Strouth located the vehicle and advised it had run out of gas. Driver was given a ride to the Travel Plaza for gas and vehicle got back on the roadway.
