OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, a Lee County Sheriff's Deputy and a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to locate Raul Perez who had a warrant for the offense of Sexual Assault of a Child. The Deputy and Trooper located Perez near the 1000 block of Stephen F Austin Blvd in Dime Box, Texas. Perez abruptly entered a home as the Deputy and Trooper gave chase into the residence. The Deputy was shot by the suspect soon thereafter. The Deputy and Trooper returned fire. Perez was found deceased. The Deputy was air lifted for emergency medical treatment. This is an active, ongoing investigation with the Texas Rangers. At this time, no additional information is available.
