 July 17, 2023

Dispatch received a call from the 2100 block of CR 314 about an aggressive dog. The caller stated that it appeared to be a pit bull. Deputy J. Brown responded to the call and advised that the dog was not aggressive. The caller was advised to call the Sheriff's Office if it becomes aggressive. At the time, there was no place for the dog to go.

Lexington Officer Reyna located a suspicious vehicle on Caldwell Street in Lexington. She advised that there were no keys in the vehicle, and the driver's side window was broken. Deputy J. Brown responded to the scene to assist. He advised that the ignition had been tampered with. The vehicle came back stolen out of Watauga Police Department. The agency confirmed the stolen vehicle, and Govan's took possession of it.

A caller reported a two-vehicle accident involving a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler on Hwy 290 at CR 235. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Const. Gonzales responded to the call along with Giddings VFD and EMS. No major injuries were reported. BDS took possession of the passenger vehicle, and the 18-wheeler was picked up by towing coming from Austin. A crash report was taken by the Sheriff's Office.

A motorist advised of a male subject going through mailboxes on Hwy 21 near the Manheim Church. The motorist also advised that the subject was in a white 4-door truck. Deputy J. Brown checked the area but was unable to locate the subject and vehicle.

Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown were dispatched to CR 113 for illegal dumping. The complainant stated that there were trash bags that had been dumped on CR 113 up to Hwy 21. There was no trash from the 2400 block of CR 133 to FM 2440. Some identifying information was located, and contact was made with an individual. They advised they do not know how their trash got on CR 113. Information was taken but no report at this time.

Sgt. Jones, Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Const. Gonzales were out at an address on FM 180 attempting to locate a wanted person. The subject was located, and the warrant was confirmed. The subject was transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.

A caller reported 5 horses is poor health on CR 133. One horse appeared to have an injured leg. Sgt. West attempted to make contact with the caller to advise them that Deputy Crenshaw is already working a case on the horses.

Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to Blaha Avenue in Dime Box for a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported. A third vehicle was located at Dime Box Grocery that had been hit. B&M took possession of one vehicle while Tillery's took possession of another. A crash reported was taken.

Dispatch received a report of a male subject walking along side of Hwy 77 near CR 330 in dark clothing. The subject was trying to flag motorists down. Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area from Lexington to FM 3403 but could not locate the subject. Sgt. West also checked CR 329, but the subject was nowhere to be found.

Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to a residence on CR 107 for a disturbance. The caller stated that her husband threatened her and threw her in a chair. Upon arrival, the husband was not at the residence. The wife also advised that he grabbed her phone when she tried to call 911 the first time. She was advised to lock up all weapons in the house, and to call back if her husband returns to the residence.

 

July 18, 2023

Sgt. Strouth advised of a vehicle blocking the roadway on Hwy 77 at Hwy 21 in Lincoln. The vehicle's front driver side tire was missing. The vehicle was parked in the south acceleration lane of Hwy 77. Govan's was dispatched to take possession of the vehicle to clear the roadway.

Austin Police Department stated that an employee did not show up for work, and she was not answering her phone. They requested a welfare check on the employee at her residence on CR 326. Deputy J. Brown responded and made contact with the employee. She advised that everything was fine, that she just overslept.

A subject came into the Sheriff's Office to turn himself in on an active warrant out of Lee County. Deputy Haman booked the subject into the Lee County Jail without incident.

Deputy J. Brown met with a property owner on CR 430 about goats on his property that do not belong to him. The owner of the goats was located and advised they would get the goats off the property and repair the fence.

An oversized load was blocking one lane of traffic on Hwy 77 in front of the Lexington High School. Deputy J. Brown advised that the vehicle was having mechanical issues. He advised he would remain on scene until it is fixed.

Sgt. Strouth spoke with a complainant from a previous call on CR 107. She advised that her husband was home, and she was afraid to go to the residence. She was given information for assistance.

A resident from PR 8044 requested to speak with a deputy in reference to fraud. Sgt. Ray spoke with the resident, and information was taken for a report.

Sgt. Strouth assisted Lexington Police Department with an attempted theft. The complainant advised that her brother's car was parked at her residence on Avenue D, and someone attempted to steal it. The windows were busted out, and the ignition was tampered with. Information was taken for a report by Lexington Police Department.

A complainant came into the Sheriff's Office to speak with a deputy about her case. Deputy J. Hilmo met with the complainant. She was provided with information and advised to contact CID with further questions.

Dispatch received a 911 call from a female subject who stated that she and her boyfriend were fighting. Dispatch could hear the phone fall from her hands and screaming in the background before the call disconnected. Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the call along with Giddings Police Department. Upon arrival, both subjects fled the scene. Both were located, and the female subject came back wanted out of Fayette County. The warrant was confirmed, and the female was transported to the Lee County Jail for booking. The male subject was released due to no one wanting to press charges.

 

July 19, 2023

A motorist on Hwy 77 North reported a subject walking in the middle of the roadway with a headlamp on. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and located the subject. She was given a courtesy ride to Cefco in Lexington. She was advised to walk in the roadway if she would continue to walk.

Deputy Dudley and Deputy Gogolewski spoke with a complainant on CR 114 in reference to an animal complaint. The complainant stated that a donkey was on her property that was aggressive and chasing her cows. She had the donkey contained in the back part of her property. A cowboy would be contacted to remove the donkey from the property.

Lincoln VFD requested traffic control for a fire on Hwy 21 at Hwy 77 near CR 440. Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Kocurek assisted with the traffic control while Lexington VFD, Dime Box VFD and Giddings VFD assisted with distinguishing the fire.

Dispatch received a call about an 18-wheeler hauling a mobile home had lost all of its tires on FM 141 near CR 120. The load was blocking the northbound lane of traffic. Deputy Dudley, Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Gogolewski responded and remained on scene for traffic control until the tires were replaced.

Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to Shady Oaks Drive for an animal complaint. The caller stated that a dog was tied to a tree and had no access to food or water. The deputy made contact with the owner, who moved the dog inside the home.

A complainant from CR 441 advised that she had been receiving unwanted texts and requested to speak with a deputy. Deputy Dickerson met with the complainant, and she was shown how to block the number texting her in her phone.

 

July 20, 2023

Giddings Police Department advised that a trucker stopped them stating that a male subject was walking southbound on Hwy 290 and was carrying what appeared to be a rifle. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted with locating the subject. The subject was located in the 3000 block of East Austin Street. The subject was carrying a pool stick, not a rifle. He was identified and released.

A motorist reported debris in the roadway on Hwy 290 near Altman Plants. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst checked the area but could not locate any debris.

Dispatch received a call about a mower on fire on the side of the road on Hwy 290 just east of Paige. Deputy Kocurek and Const. Gonzales responded to the call along with Giddings VFD. The fire was isolated and distinguished.

Deputy Eickenhorst checked out with a motorist on Hwy 77 North near CR 405. Contact was made with the driver, who advised they were waiting on assistance to change a tire.

A caller advised of a bonfire at the intersection of CR 309 and CR 108. Cpl. Ellington responded and located the fire on CR 108. No one could be located on scene. Fedor VFD was paged out to distinguish the fire.

 

July 21, 2023

Giddings Police Department requested assistance on North Orange Street with translation. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and was able to assist.

A motorist requested assistance with getting gas for her vehicle. Deputy E. Hilmo assisted the motorist at PR 2902 and was able to get back on the roadway.

Sgt. Strouth was dispatched to Fourth Street and Giddings Street in Lexington for an animal complaint. The caller stated that several aggressive dogs tried to attack him and his dog. The deputy advised that the owner was not home at the time and would return later to talk to them.

Deputy Haman checked out with an abandoned vehicle on CR 125. The vehicle was parked off the roadway and secure.

A resident on CR 326 requested to speak with a deputy about two abandoned trailers. Deputy Haman met with the resident at the Sheriff's Office. Information was gathered but no report at this time.

Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Kocurek responded to a disturbance call on FM 180. The caller stated that a male subject was yelling and screaming along with threatening to hit her. Upon arrival, the subject left going down PR 5000. The subject was located, and advised he did not want to harm himself or others. Both parties were advised to remain separated.

ADT advised of a residential burglary alarm on CR 426. Deputy Haman responded and advised there were no signs of entry and no one on the property.

 

July 22, 2023

Deputy J. Hilmo advised of debris in the roadway on FM 696 West in the 1300 block. The debris was removed from the roadway.

A caller reported several signs down on CR 134 and cooler in the area. It appeared that it may have been an accident. Deputy J. Brown responded to the call, and Pct. 1 Commissioner was notified. Information was gathered for a report.

Deputy Haman checked out with debris in the roadway on Hwy 77 at CR 220. The roadway was cleared of the debris.

Dispatch received a 911 call from a juvenile advising that her mom and stepdad were fighting. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded to the call on CR 311. Contact was made with both parties, who advised it was just verbal. Everything was fine.

Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to a residence on CR 430 to meet with a complainant about harassment. The complainant stated she was being harassed by two female subjects. Information was gathered for a report, and a criminal trespass warning was issued.

 

July 23, 2023

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Peterson's in Lexington. The vehicle left down Fifth Street. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area but could not locate a vehicle matching the description.

Sgt. Strouth checked out with a suspicious vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The vehicle was found to doors open to it. Contact was made with the occupant, who advised he was just waiting for the store to open.

Dispatch received a call about a truck and trailer that keeps parking at the corner of FM 3403 and CR 444 blocking the view to be able to turn from the county road safely. Deputy J. Brown responded and located only the trailer at the intersection. The company the trailer is registered to was contact and advised that they would send a recovery team to pick up the trailer. The truck was located at a residence on CR 445. Contact was made with the driver, and information was provided to him about the trailer.

A complainant that lives on CR 302 requested to speak to a deputy. Deputy Haman spoke with the complainant, and information was gathered for a report.

Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to the area of Rabbs Creek on FM 448 for a suspicious person. The motorist advised that a male subject was standing in the middle of the roadway and jumped into the creek when the motorist drove by. The deputies located the subject and advised everything was fine.

Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to a call for a motorist assist on Hwy 21 at FM 1624. The motorist stated that he had a tire blow and needed assistance with changing the tire. The vehicle was blocking the outside lane of traffic. The driver called a wrecker to assist because there was a bolt stuck. The deputies remain on scene until the tire was changed.
