June 5 - June 11, 2023

 

 June 5, 2023

02:08 - Deputy Dickerson advised that he was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a dirt bike on FM 3403 near Hwy 21. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley were enroute to assist. Deputy Dickerson advised that the driver of the dirt bike was turning on Hwy 21 heading eastbound towards Burleson County. Dispatch notified Burleson County of the situation. The deputy lost sight of the dirt bike, and information was passed onto Burleson County.

08:04 - Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst checked out with an abandoned vehicle near the 1000 block of Hwy 21 West. The vehicle was parked safely off the roadway and red tagged. Information was taken for a report.

08:59 - The Dime Box Vet Clinic called the Sheriff's Office to see if the owner of the sheep pinned up behind the clinic has been located. Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy Eickenhorst attempted to locate an owner but were unsuccessful. Cowboys were contacted to remove the sheep from the property.

09:51 - A complainant from CR 127 came to the Sheriff's Office wanting to speak to a deputy about a trucking company. Deputy Crenshaw met with the complainant and took information about the company.

10:22 - Deputy Crenshaw was dispatched to a property on CR 325 for a possible theft. The caller stated that some material was stolen from her property where she is having some work done. The deputy spoke with both parties, and they were able to come to an agreement.

11:57 - Deputy L. Brown was out at an address on CR 454 for a case follow up.

13:13 - Deputy Crenshaw advised he was out on FM 141 at CR 430 removing a tree limb from the roadway. The roadway was cleared.

13:34 - A 911 caller reported that she was rear ended at the intersection of CR 309 and CR 310.  Sgt. West, Deputy Eickenhorst and Deputy L. Brown responded to the call along with EMS and Blue VFD. Squad One arrived on scene first and advised EMS to disregard. Information was exchanged, and a crash report was taken.

17:20 - Dispatch received several calls about a male subject in a wheel chair in the middle of the roadway on FM 696 East about two miles past CR 407. Deputy L. Brown responded and made contact with the subject. He was advised to stay out of the roadway.

17:48 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to FM 2440 near CR 113 for loose cattle. The deputy checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

18:07 - Sgt. Strouth was stopped by an employee at Bucees who stated there was a male subject asking for food and bothering customers. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Hilmo located the subject at the Dollar Tree. Contact was made with the subject who stated he was homeless and just came to Giddings. Information was provided to Giddings PD, and the manager at Dollar Tree gave the subject permission to stay for a while.

19:37 - A property owner requested a deputy go to her property on Main Avenue in Lincoln to check on her animals because a worker threatened to kill them. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded to the call and advised that the animals were not harmed.

20:12 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a vehicle parked in front of the post office in Lincoln. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure.

20:47 - A complainant requested that a deputy make contact with him at his residence on Fourth Street in Lexington. Deputy J. Brown responded and made contact with the complainant, who advised that vehicles were not stopping at the stop signs and speeding in the area of Fifth Street and Caldwell Street. A close patrol was set up for the area.

 

June 6, 2023

00:52 - Deputy J. Brown checked out at the church in Serbin with two vehicles in the parking lot. The vehicles were unoccupied and secure. The door was open to the church, and the deputy secured it.

05:30 - Sgt. Strouth advised he was out with a motorist in front of the Giddings High School. Contact was made with the driver who advised they were just switching drivers.

09:06 - Dispatch was advised by Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst that they just witnessed an accident on Hwy 290 by the Fireman's Park. DPS Sgt. Weiser responded to the accident along with EMS and Giddings VFD. B&M took possession of the vehicle, and DPS took the crash report.

09:40 - A complainant requested to speak with Lt. Adams about some damage that was done to his car in Austin. Information was taken for a report.

13:45 - A 911 caller advised that her son was currently at an address on Hwy 77 North in Lexington and was suicidal. Information was passed onto Lexington PD. Contact was made with the son's girlfriend, who advised that they were driving when the son tried grabbing the steering wheel. She got him to get out the vehicle, and advised he carries a pistol. After gathering more information, it was determined the subjects were in Burleson County. Burleson County was advised of the situation.

14:25 - Deputy L. Brown was out with loose cows in the 1100 block of CR 304. The cows were secured off the roadway.

15:19 - A motorist called 911 and stated that a fertilizer truck had an accident and the driver was injured. The accident occurred in the 1400 block of FM 696 East. Lt. Adams, Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy Eickenhorst and Trooper McCoy responded to the accident along with EMS and Lexington VFD. DPS took the crash report, and B&M took possession of the vehicle.

15:50 - Lt. Adams assisted CPS at a residence on PR 7044. Information was taken for a report.

17:05 - Bastrop County requested a welfare check on a female subject at a residence off CR 226. Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy J. Hilmo, Deputy J. Brown and Deputy L. Brown responded and did not locate the subject at the residence. Units were able to locate the subject at a hotel in Giddings. She advised she was okay. Deputy Haman advised she would check on the subject later in the night.

17:51 - Trooper McCoy advised he was on a traffic stop on Hwy 21 near TXDOT. Sgt Strouth responded to assist with the traffic stop. The driver was arrested for possession, and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking. Tillery's Wrecker took possession of the vehicle.

17:56 - A complainant on CR 305 reported he found an Apple AirTag taped to his tractor. Deputy Haman met with the complainant, and the AirTag was taken for evidence. Information was taken for a report.

18:34 - Dispatch received a 911 open line call from an address on Mayer Lane in Giddings. Deputy J. Brown responded and made contact with the homeowner. She advised that her daughter accidentally called 911.

19:07 - Sgt. Strouth checked out at the Dime Box Vet Clinic with a vehicle that was parked behind the building. Contact was made with the driver, who advised they were an employee.

19:22 - A caller reported a suspicious vehicle near the 900 block of Shaw Street in Lexington. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded and checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.

19:40 - Deputy Haman checked out at a hotel on East Austin Street in Giddings to check on a female subject from an earlier call. The subject was fine and advised to call if she needing anything.

20:49 - A motorist advised that she was in a one vehicle accident on Hwy 290 West near Altman Plants. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was off the roadway. Deputy Haman assisted Trooper McCoy with the accident. Govan's took possession of the vehicle.

21:05 - Rockdale PD transferred a call about a reckless driver on Hwy 77 North entering Lee County. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.

23:25 - Alarm Connections requested a business check at a business in Lexington because the alarm has not been activated. Deputy J. Brown checked the building and advised everything was secure.

23:57 - Giddings PD requested assistance with locating a runaway juvenile who was pinging off of FM 2440 just outside of the city limits. Deputy J. Brown and Trooper McCoy checked and stayed in the area to attempt to locate the juvenile. Giddings PD advised they were able to locate the juvenile.

 

June 7, 2023

02:56 - Sgt. Strouth was out with a subject walking alongside the roadway on FM 180 near the Nails Creek State Parl. Contact was made with the subject, who was identified and released. The subject was a nearby resident.

08:35 - Cpl. Ellington cleared debris from the roadway on Hwy 77 North at the Giddings city limits.

11:06 - A motorist advised that another motorist swerved and hit his 18-wheeler on Hwy 290 West near Altman Plants. The motorist pulled over in the 4200 block of Hwy 290 West but the other motorist kept driving. He stated he had the incident on video and wanted to speak with a deputy. Cpl. Ellington met with the motorist, who advised that the trucking company just wanted the incident documented.

11:10 - A caller reported goats out on FM 141 near CR 428. Deputy L. Brown checked the area but could not locate any loose livestock.

14:00 - Cpl. Ellington was dispatched to CR 113 near the old dumping grounds for illegal dumping. The complainant stated that a male subject driving a Chevy Tahoe was seen dumping items. The deputy checked the area but could not locate any dumped items. Deputy will attempt to make contact with the property owner to see if the items were dumped on the property.

14:34 - Deputy Webber advised he was out with a disabled 18-wheeler on Hwy 21 at FM 1624. The driver stated that he had a flat and assistance was on the way. The deputy remained on scene until the tire was changed.

16:54 - Dispatch received an open 911 call from an address on CR 223. Dispatch called the number and made contact with an individual, who advised it was an accidental call.

17:57 - A resident on CR 125 report some stray dogs in the roadway in front of her residence. Deputy Dickerson responded and checked the area but was unable to locate any stray dogs.

18:35 - A mother called the Sheriff's Office advising that her daughter had run away two days prior to go to church camp and wanted a deputy to make contact with her daughter at the camp on CR 415. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson made contact with the camp, who verified that the child was currently at the camp. The camp advised that the mother had given permission for the student to attend the camp prior to the child's arrival. Contact was made with the mother and advised of the situation.

19:54 - Deputy Dickerson was advised of residents on CR 311 were speeding down the county road and playing loud music. A close patrol was placed for the area.

 

June 8, 2023

04:49 - A male subject came to the Sheriff's Office to turn himself in on a warrant out of Giddings PD. A Giddings PD unit responded and booked the subject into the Lee County Jail.

06:56 - Deputy L. Brown was dispatched to a residence on Hwy 77 North to meet with a complainant about her son being assaulted by another juvenile. The complainant stated that her son has injuries to his face and wanted the other juvenile arrested. At the request of the complainant, EMS was dispatched to the residence to evaluate the son. Deputy L. Brown remained on scene until Chief Garza and Officer Cox could respond. The complainant was evaluated by MHMR and transported to a hospital. The grandmother took possession of the children. EMS and Lexington PD took a report.

07:32 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 77 passing the Giddings High School. The vehicle was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. The call was transferred to Giddings PD.

08:58 - Dispatch received a call about an 18-wheeler that was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic on Hwy 77. Cpl. Ellington responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

11:45 - Cpl. Ellington provided traffic control for a disabled 18-wheeler that was in the process of being towed on Hwy 77 South.

12:26 - CPS requested assistance at an address on CR 314. Deputy L. Brown met with CPS but no one was home.

12:36 - Cpl. Ellington, Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy L. Brown were dispatched to a residence off 180 for a welfare check. A caller stated that a male subject did not seem like himself and she last saw him sitting under a tree on a private road. Contact was made with the subject, who appeared to be okay. The caller was contacted and was advised the same.

13:00 - CID assisted Bryan PD with an arrest at the Lee County Sheriff's Office on a cold case from 1989. During a separate investigation, a DNA sample was taken from the male subject by the Lee County Sheriff's Office that led to identifying the subject as the suspect in the double homicide. The subject was taken into custody without incident. Bryan PD took custody of the subject, and transported him to Brazos County for booking.

13:37 - A property owner on Hwy 21 West requested that a deputy issue a criminal trespass warning to a former tenant. Deputy Webber responded but the property owner called back and changed their mind.

14:59 - Cpl. Ellington was dispatched to a location off US 77 to meet with a complainant about goats on his property that do not belong to him. The deputy tried to make contact with the owner of the goats but they were not home.

14:47 - Sgt. Ray met with a complainant on FM 180 in reference to theft. Information was taken for a report.

19:15 - A caller reported that the stop light on East Austin Street at CR 226 was not working. Giddings PD was notified, and TXDOT was enroute to fix the lights.

19:28 - Dispatch received a call about four head of cattle out on FM 1697 at FM 180. Deputy Dickerson checked the area but was unable to locate upon any loose livestock.

19:47 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dickerson and Trooper Pennartz responded to a call for a welfare check at Tex Villa Apartments. The caller stated that her daughters were receiving threatening texts from one of the daughters' boyfriend. The residence was checked but no one was home. Sgt. Holloway made contact with one of the daughters at Cefco in Giddings. She advised everything was okay. No report at this time.

20:18 - A resident on FM 141 stated that someone has been messing with her phone. Sgt. Holloway responded and spoke with the caller. Everything was okay.

20:42 - A motorist reported about four to five head of black cattle out on FM 1697 at FM 180. Sgt. Holloway responded and located the loose cattle. The livestock was secured off the roadway.

22:36 - Dispatch received an open 911 call from an address on North Main Street in Giddings. The information was passed on to Giddings PD. Sgt. Holloway responded to assist Giddings PD with the call. Contact was made with a male subject, who was wanted out of Nevada. Giddings PD took the male subject into custody, and he was booked into the Lee County Jail.

23:57 - Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson were dispatched to an address on Oak Creek Trail in Williamson County to assist a Williamson County deputy. Lee County Dispatch received a 911 text, and attempted to gather further information while on the line with Williamson County. Williamson County requested a Lee County deputy be sent due to them not having a second deputy in the area as backup. Upon arrival, Sgt. Holloway advised that it was a civil matter.

 

June 9, 2023

01:37 - A juvenile called the Sheriff's Office from Cefco in Lexington stating that her parents kicked her out of her home. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson made contact with the juvenile at the store, and transported her to her residence on CR 408. The juvenile was released to her parents.

02:16 - Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence on North Rockdale Street in Lexington. A female subject advised that she needed help, and requested EMS then hung up. EMS was dispatched, and requested a deputy to make scene with them due to the unknown nature of the call. EMS made contact with the female subject, who refused medical treatment. Before a deputy could make the scene, EMS was back in service. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson made the scene and requested EMS to return after speaking with both female subjects. After further investigation, the female subject that needed medical treatment and called 911 had a disagreement with her mother. The female subject was transported to a hotel in Giddings for the night.

05:28 - A caller advised that he hit a wheelchair in front of the Dollar General in Lexington. The caller stated that the vehicle sustained a flat tire. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy J. Hilmo responded along with Squad 1 to the call. The owner of the wheelchair refused medical treatment and help from the deputies. Information was taken for a report.

08:21 - Deputy Crenshaw was dispatched to Hwy 290 at an entrance to the Fireman's Park for a disabled vehicle. Contact was made, and a mechanic was on scene fixing the vehicle.

08:29 - Sheriff Goetz, Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst checked out at an address on Hwy 77 North to gather more information from a previous call.

09:42 - CPS requested a deputy for a civil standby at a residence on CR 314. Deputy Crenshaw responded and conducted the standby without incident.

10:16 - A resident from Lexington requested a courtesy ride from a hotel in Giddings to her residence on North Rockdale Street.  Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst gave the resident a courtesy ride and stood by while she gathered her belongings from the residence.

10:43 - Parole advised that they had a male subject in their office that had an active warrant out of Hays County. Deputy Crenshaw responded and took the subject into custody and transported him to the Lee County Jail for booking.

15:14 - Lt. Adams was out at an address on CR 439 for a case follow up. Information was taken for the report.

15:39 - A complainant from Phillip Street in Lexington requested to speak to a deputy about her neighbor's horse. Sgt. West spoke with the complainant and was advised that the neighbor will be out of state until next week. Deputies will follow up with the complainant at that time.

16:46 - Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy Eickenhorst checked out at a residence on CR 133 to follow up on an animal complaint. The deputies found no food or water for the animals and advised that no one was home. Information was given to night shift to attempt to make contact. Captain Allen conducted a follow-up, and all the animals are in good health with food and water.

17:06 - A caller requested welfare check on her neighbor on CR 312. The caller stated that trash has been building up for a while. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and made contact with the homeowner. She advised they were cleaning the house out.

17:33 - Dispatch received a report about a cow out on CR 117 near CR 119. Deputy J. Brown located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

18:34 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a residence off CR 430. Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the residents. They advised everything was fine.

19:45 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to Hwy 290 West near the county line for a reckless driver. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver admitted to being distracted and was issued a warning.

21:08 - Deputy Haman advised of debris in the roadway on Hwy 21 near FM 2440. The debris was removed from the roadway.

21:12 - A caller reported multiple cows out on FM 180 near FM 1697. Deputy Haman checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

21:17 - Washington County arrested a wanted male subject out of Lee County. The warrant was confirmed. Deputy J. Brown met with a Washington County unit to take the subject into custody. The subject was transported and booked into the Lee County Jail.

 

June 10, 2023

02:05 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to Hwy 290 West near CR 203 for a reckless driver. The deputy located the vehicle and observed it swerving in and out of lanes. A traffic stop was conducted by the 290 Travel Plaza. Deputy Haman responded to assist. Giddings PD was requested for translation. The driver advised he was just tired and was released with a warning and citation.

03:51 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call on Hwy 290 West near Leesure Lanes. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown checked the area and attempted to make contact at a residence in the area. No contact was made, and all appeared to be okay.

05:02 - A resident at Tex Villa advised they could hear arguing coming from another apartment. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded along with Giddings PD. Contact was made with the subjects, and they advised it was just verbal. Both subjects advised they were okay.

08:00 - Giddings PD was out on a disturbance call on West Austin Street. Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy Crenshaw responded to assist. Giddings PD took one subject into custody and was transported for booking into the Lee County Jail.

09:25 - Dispatch received a 911 call about a horse in the middle of CR 309 near CR 108. Reserve Deputy Terpstra responded and removed the horse from the roadway.

09:40 - Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy Eickenhorst met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office about filing a report against the US Government. Information was gathered but no report at this time.

10:32 - All Lee County units assisted Giddings PD with a funeral escort from Phillips and Luckey to a cemetery on FM 448.

11:52 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised of debris in the roadway on East Austin Street in front of Bucees.  The debris was removed from the roadway.

13:20 - A motorist reported a cow out on CR 118 north of the bridge. Deputy J. Hilmo located the cow and removed it from the roadway. The cow owner was notified of the problem with the fence.

14:58 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra was out with an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 77 near FM 3403. The vehicle was secure and off the roadway.

18:03 - Fayette County requested assistance with a courtesy ride for a male subject trying to get to Austin. They advised their unit dropped him off at Cefco in Giddings. Deputy J. Brown checked around and inside the store and was unable to locate the subject.

18:06 - Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman, Deputy J. Brown and Troopers McCoy, Ledesma and Thomas responded to a call about a vehicle fire on FM 2239 near CR 205. South Lee County VFD and EMS were also dispatched to the scene. The fire was extinguished, and DPS took the crash report. TXDOT was notified of roadway damage. BDS took possession of the vehicle.

19:04 - A caller requested a civil standby at Hwy 77 and FM 3403. After units cleared from the vehicle fire, Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown responded to the civil standby. Once on scene, the property owner closed and locked the gate due to not liking law enforcement. The caller and property owner will arrange another date to exchange items.

19:14 - Deputy Haman was dispatched to CR 200 near CR 201 for a donkey and a mule in the roadway. The deputy checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

19:45 - A complainant called from Nails Creek State Park requesting to speak with a deputy. He advised that a male subject came up to him accusing him of yelling at their kids. Park Ranger Heatherly was advised of the situation, and Sgt. Strouth spoke with the complainant. The complainant advised he would leave the park for the night.

19:52 - Deputy Haman checked out with a motorist near the Cotton Bowl on CR 202. The driver advised he pulled over to use the phone.

21:12 - Dispatch was notified of an active disturbance at a residence on CR 307. The caller stated that the property owner's daughter came to the residence and choked her mother. The daughter and a male subject left in a grey hatchback towards Lexington. Deputy J. Brown made the scene first, and advised everything was okay at the residence. The deputy also advised he saw a vehicle matching the description on FM 696 W traveling towards Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman attempted to locate the vehicle and subjects but were unable to do so. Sgt. Strouth then assisted Deputy J. Brown at the residence. Information was taken for a report.

21:47 - A caller advised that he got his vehicle stuck in the mud in a field but was unsure of where he was. Dispatch was able to locate the caller in a field near the train tracks off of CR 110. While on the phone with the caller, dispatch noticed the caller was not speaking clearly and appeared to be under the influence of something. Deputy Haman and Troopers McCoy, Ledesma and Thomas responded to the call. Once on scene, the units advised that the subject was pointing a red laser at them and standing on the hood of his vehicle. The subject was detained. Drugs and a firearm were located in the vehicle. The subject was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail by Deputy Haman. Dep J. Brown, DPS and Giddings PD responded to the jail to assist with the subject. Owen's took possession of the vehicle, and a report was taken.

 

June 11, 2023

01:01 - A motorist reported a one vehicle roll over on FM 696 East between CR 407 and CR 406. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded to the accident along with EMS and Lexington VFD. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital in Bryan. B&M took possession of the vehicle, and a crash report was taken.

09:28 - Deputy J. Hilmo responded to a call about a calf out on the corner of CR 114 and CR 135. The calf was located and removed from the roadway.

10:29 - Dispatch received a report about a cow out on CR 309 near CR B. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

10:46 - A 911 open line call was received from CR 238. Dispatch called back twice and received a voicemail both times. Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst responded and made contact with a resident, who advised it was an accidental call.

15:14 - The driver involved in the accident on FM 696 East came into the Sheriff's Office to collect his belongings. Sgt. West took inventory and returned the property to the driver.

16:31 - Sgt. West, Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy Eickenhorst responded to a disturbance call on Holcombe Drive in Lexington. The caller stated that the subjects were yelling at each other and getting into each other's faces. Upon arrival, everything was okay, and the parties were separated.

16:57 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised of debris in the roadway in the 6000 block of Hwy 77 North. The debris was cleared from the roadway.

18:28 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 21 East traveling east bound. All units were advised but none were in the area. Information was passed on to Burleson County.

19:48 - Deputy Haman spoke to a complainant over the telephone about the eviction process. The complainant was advised to call the Justice of the Peace for more information.

22:36 - Deputy J. Brown went to a residence on CR 307 to speak with a complainant about a previous incident. Statements were obtained for the report.

21:24 - A resident on CR 430 advised that there was a man in a blue truck walking on her property with a gun. While Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown were enroute, the resident advised that the vehicle was leaving going towards FM 141. Deputy J. Brown checked the area for the vehicle, and Sgt. Strouth went to property to speak with the resident. Deputy J. Brown was unable to locate the vehicle. The resident was not home, and Sgt. Strouth made contact with them via telephone. They were advised to contact the Sheriff's Office if they need further assistance.

21:40 - Dispatch received an open 911 call from Hwy 77 just south of CR 217. Squealing tires could be heard in the background but no voice contact. Deputy Haman and Troopers McCoy and Ledesma responded to the area. Trooper McCoy advised he checked the area and did not see any vehicles in the ditch or parking lot.

22:28 - Sgt. Strouth was dispatched to CR 208 for a cow out. The cow was located and secured off the roadway.

23:08 - Deputy Haman checked out in the 5700 block of Hwy 77 North with a disabled vehicle. The deputy advised there was a note on the door stating they would be back in the morning to pick up the vehicle. The vehicle was secure and off the roadway.
