May 29 - June 4, 2023

 

 May 29, 2023

00:33 - A caller reported two suspicious vehicles parked in the parking lot at a church on CR 309. While Deputy Haman was enroute to the call, the caller had called back and advised someone got out of one vehicle and into the other and left. The deputy stayed in the area to see if the vehicle would come back.

01:29 - A resident on FM 141 stated that he had no power. Dispatch contacted Bluebonnet Electric.

02:48 - ADT Security reported a residential burglary alarm at an address on Hwy 21 East. While Sgt. Strouth was enroute, dispatch was able to make contact with the homeowner who advised the alarm was activated due to the power being out.

03:08 - Deputy J. Brown advised that he saw a vehicle matching the description of one of the vehicles from a previous call on CR 309. Deputy Haman initiated a traffic stop and was advised by the driver that they met up to go to a friend's house and left the other vehicle at the church.

03:52 - Bastrop County requested Lee County deputies to be on the lookout for a white Ford truck pulling a trailer with an ATV and motorcycle on the back that was possibly stolen out of Travis County. Sgt. Strouth located the vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy 290 West. The vehicle pulled into the 7/11 on East Austin Street in Giddings, and contact was made with the driver. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown assisted with the stop. A PC search was conducted, and the driver was arrested for possession. Deputy J. Brown transported and booked the driver into the Lee County Jail. The ATV and motorcycle could not be confirmed stolen at the time. A report was taken.

03:52 - Deputy J. Brown advised of an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 77 North on FM 3403. The vehicle was secured and red tagged.

07:27 - Deputy E. Hilmo came across some goats out on the roadway near the 1000 block of Stayton Avenue in Dime Box. Contact was made with the owner, who removed the goats from the roadway.

10:09 - Dispatch received a call about cattle out on CR 117 about two miles off of FM 141. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and located the cows. They were secured off the road, but the fence was down. No contact could be made with the property owner.

11:15 - A property owner on CR 411 reported people hog hunting without his permission. He advised there were three males and one female on ATVs with dogs. The property owner followed the subjects to a neighboring property. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo made contact with all parties, and the matter was resolved.

17:33 - Deputy Dickerson checked out at the 290 Travel Plaza with an unwanted subject. The subject was given a verbal criminal trespass warning.

18:35 - Dispatch was advised by Deputy Dickerson that he was out with a loose cow at the intersection of FM 180 and CR 127. The cow was secured off the roadway.

19:43 - A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of FM 180 and CR 130. Deputy Dickerson responded, located the vehicle, and advised that the vehicle was off the roadway and secure.

20:53 - Deputy Dudley advised that he saw a female subject walking down FM 696 near CR 306 that was possibly a student from a school on CR 309. Dispatch made contact with an employee of the school who advised that the female student was taking a walk to 'clear her head'. The employee also stated that the student was a graduate from the school. Deputy Dudley requested that someone pick the student up due to it being dark outside. The student was given a courtesy ride to the Blue VFD where she was released to an employee of the school. An information report was taken.

22:35 - Dispatch received an open 911 call from an address on North Harris Street that sounded like a physical disturbance. The call was transferred to Giddings PD. Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD with the call.

23:05 - A 911 caller advised that he was involved in an accident on Hwy 21 east of CR 403 because a vehicle was driving into oncoming traffic. Dispatch received several more 911 calls stating that they witnessed a red car that caused several vehicle accidents until it crashed into the ditch. Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley responded to the call along with EMS and Dime Box VFD. Witnesses told deputies that they saw a female subject flee the scene on foot heading eastbound in the westbound lane of traffic. Burleson County was notified to assist with locating the female. Owen's Wrecker, Govan's Wrecker, and BDS Wrecker were dispatched to the scene to take possession of the vehicles involved in the accidents. The female subject could not be immediately located, and Fort Worth PD was contacted to gather information on the subject. While deputies were on another crash scene, they received a tip from a motorist driving by that they saw a female subject near the scene of the previous accident. Deputy Dudley located the female subject in the 1000 block of CR 400. The subject was detained and transported to a hospital in Bastrop. Information was taken for a report.

 

May 30, 2023

01:33 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to Hwy 21 just west of FM 3403 for a one vehicle accident. The motorist stated that he hit a deer and had no injuries. B&M was dispatched and took possession of the vehicle. A crash report was taken.

03:02 - Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD with a traffic stop near the 100 block of South Orange Street without incident.

09:37 - A motorist requested a deputy to standby with her while she waited on a wrecker to pick up her vehicle on FM 141 at CR 116.  Deputy E. Hilmo responded and stood by with the motorist. The deputy spoke with the property owner, and he stated that it would be okay for the motorist to leave her vehicle for the wrecker to pick up.

09:52 - Deputy E. Hilmo was dispatched to CR 119 near CR 117 for two loose cows. The caller stated that she was able to run them onto CR 117 but could not get them to go onto the property. The deputy was able to assist with getting the cows secured on the property.

11:17 - Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD at a store on West Austin Street with a female subject. The female was found in possession and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.

11:48 - A motorist was parked on the side of Hwy 21 near CR 113. Deputy E. Hilmo checked out with the motorist and advised them to pull onto CR 113 to a safer location.

11:55 - A 911 caller requested deputies to respond to the 290 Travel Plaza for a male subject who is causing a disturbance in the store. The caller stated that they have had issues with the subject, and he was given a verbal warning to stay away from the store. The call was transferred to Giddings PD. Cpl. Ellington assisted with the call.

15:39 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver on FM 696 West traveling eastbound. The vehicle was passing other motorists in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed. At the time of call, the vehicle was passing Arrowhead Storage. Cpl. Ellington and Officer Reyna responded to the call. Officer Reyna located the vehicle parked at a residence on Seventh Street.

15:31 - Deputy E. Hilmo was dispatched to an address on CR 133 for a 911 hang up call. Dispatch attempted to call the number back but no one answered. The deputy made contact with the property owner, who advised he was mowing and had his phone in his pocket.

16:39 - A motorist reported a one vehicle rollover accident on FM 696 East near CR 406. The driver was out of the vehicle and appeared to have head wounds. Cpl. Ellington and Officer Reyna responded to the call along with EMS and Lexington VFD. The driver was transported by EMS and Tillery's took possession of the vehicle. Cpl. Ellington took a crash report.

17:44 - A caller advised that a black SUV hit his vehicle and damaged the driver's side panel. The caller was following the SUV westbound on FM 696. At the time of call, they were passing Arrowhead Storage. Officer Reyna advised she was in the area and would attempt to locate the vehicles. The SUV pulled into the Blue VFD parking lot. Cpl. Ellington and Officer Reyna met with both parties, and information was exchanged for insurance purposes.

18:04 - Deputy Dudley was dispatched to Hwy 77 near FM 3403 for a loose cow. The area was checked but no loose livestock was located.

18:07 - Dispatch received a call about tire debris in the roadway in the 5600 block of Hwy 290 East. Deputy Dickerson cleared the roadway of the debris.

18:36 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to the area of FM 180 and CR 130 for a reckless driver. The deputy checked the area but could not locate a vehicle matching the description driving recklessly.

19:19 - A motorist reported about 15 head of cattle on the roadway on FM 696 East near CR 401. Deputy Dudley checked the area all the way to the county line but could not locate any loose cattle.

19:33 - A resident on FM 696 West advised that her neighbor's cattle got out, and she could not make contact with the neighbor. She stated that approximately 15-20 head of mixed breed cattle were out on the roadway. Deputy Dudley checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

22:02 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to CR 426 near CR 424 for a black calf out on the roadway. The area was checked but no loose livestock was located.

22:26 - A caller reported an animal carcass on the roadway on CR 127 near CR 119. Deputy Dudley responded and removed the carcass from the roadway.

 

May 31, 2023

06:00 - A female subject came to the Sheriff's Office to turn herself in on a warrant out of Walker County. Deputy Eickenhorst booked the subject into the Lee County Jail without incident.

07:00 - Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy L. Brown and Lexington PD responded to a call about a male subject in a wheelchair in the middle of the outside lane of traffic on Hwy 77 near CR 405. The subject was located, and Deputy Crenshaw gave him a courtesy ride to Giddings.

08:49 - A complainant came to the Sheriff's Office to speak with a deputy about issues going on at his property located on CR 125. Sgt. West and Deputy Eickenhorst met with the complainant and advised it was going to be a civil matter.

12:07 - A male subject came to the Sheriff's Office to turn himself in on an active warrant out of Lee County. Deputy Eickenhorst booked the subject into the Lee County Jail without incident.

12:54 - Dispatch received several 911 hang up calls from an address on FM 112. Attempts were made to make contact, but no contact could be made. Deputy L. Brown and Chief Garza responded, and advised kids were playing on the phone.

16:53 - Giddings PD advised of a male subject in a wheelchair going north on Hwy 77 in a lane of traffic. The subject needed a courtesy ride to Lexington. Deputy J. Hilmo responded to assist the Giddings Officer and upon arrival, turned in the path of a vehicle which struck the Sheriff's office and Giddings PD units. Additional Lee County units responded along with DPS, EMS and Giddings VFD. Owen's took possession of the vehicle that hit the units. DPS took a crash report.

19:50 - Deputy Haman checked out at an address on CR 314 for a case follow up. Information was taken.

20:10 - Game Warden Moreno was dispatched to a residence on CR 425 for a rattlesnake in the bathroom. The snake was removed from the residence.

21:50 - A motorist reported a female subject walking along the roadway on FM 1624 in the Fedor area. Deputy Haman checked the area from Lexington to Hwy 21 and could not locate the subject.

22:57 - Deputy Haman responded to a call for a motorist assist. The motorist advised that her 18-wheeler broke down on Hwy 290 East near CR 138. Another unit was requested to give the motorist and family a courtesy ride to a hotel in Giddings. Sgt. Strouth assisted Deputy Haman with transporting the family. The motorist stated she would have someone come in the morning to fix the 18-wheeler.

 

June 1, 2023

03:11 - A caller reported debris in the roadway on Hwy 77 South near the RV park. They also advised that a car was parked near the debris with hazards on. Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the driver of the vehicle. They stated they were waiting on a wrecker because they hit a deer just inside Fayette County. The roadway was clear of debris.

08:32 - Deputy E. Hilmo gave a courtesy to a motorist from Best Western in Giddings to his vehicle on Hwy 290 near CR 138.

08:59 - A resident off County Road 415 advised that his daughter was missing. She was last seen wearing a white hoodie and black shorts. Deputy L. Brown responded and was able to locate the missing teen. She was returned back home without incident.

10:38 - Deputy Webber advised he was on Hwy 21 near CR 454 picking up debris off the roadway. The roadway was cleared.

10:44 - A motorist reported a large piece of tire in the roadway on Hwy 77 just north of Hwy 21. Deputy Webber searched the area for the tire but could not locate any debris in the roadway.  

11:26 - Deputy Eickenhorst advised he was out with an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 290 near FM 180. The vehicle was secure and off the roadway.

11:59 - A caller requested a civil standby at a residence on Hwy 290 West. He stated he wanted to retrieve his belongings from a rental house. Sgt. West, Deputy Webber and Deputy Eickenhorst conducted the standby without incident.

12:19 - Lt. Adams responded to a call for an animal complaint on CR 213. The resident stated that he had an injured raccoon under his porch he needed assistance with. Lt. Adams was able to dispatch the animal for the resident.

17:30 - A complainant from FM 1624 requested to speak to a deputy about his mailbox being hit and knocked over by someone. Deputy Crenshaw responded and met with the complainant. Information will be forwarded to the deputy for a report.

18:09 - Trooper McCoy checked out with a motorist assist on Hwy 290 just west of the Giddings city limits. The 18-wheeler was partially blocking to roadway. Deputy Haman assisted with traffic control while the vehicle was moved.

18:57 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up from a residence in the 1800 block of FM 141. Deputy J. Brown responded and was able to make contact with someone who advised it was an accidental call.

20:26 - A staff member at Bubba's Truck Stop in Dime Box requested a welfare check on a male subject in the store that did not seem to be acting like himself. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown responded and made contact with the subject. EMS was dispatched and transported the subject to the hospital in Caldwell. Deputy J. Brown went to a location off SH 21 to secure the subject's residence.

20:26 - Deputy J. Brown checked out with a vehicle on the side of the roadway on FM 180 near FM 1697. Contact was made with the occupants who advised they were switching drivers.

21:07 - Bastrop County transferred a 911 call for a one vehicle roll over on North County Line Road. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded to the call along with EMS and Blue VFD. Bastrop County advised that their fire personnel were on scene and occupants were refusing EMS. Deputies confirmed refusal and EMS was cancelled. Owen's took possession of the vehicle, and a crash report was taken.

23:27 - Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman advised they were attempting to catch up to a vehicle that was speeding an excess of 90 mph on FM 696 West traveling westbound. The vehicle accelerated, and units lost sight of it.

23:33 - Alarm Connections called for a business check at Lexington Food Mart due to the closing alarm not being activated. Sgt. Strouth checked the building, and everything was secure.

 

June 2, 2023

13:14 - Deputy Kocurek red tagged an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 290 East near FM 180.

15:15 - A motorist reported a male subject on the side of the road on Hwy 290 throwing large rocks at motorists driving by. The subject was on the westbound side near Altman Plants. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Kocurek located the subject and advised him to stop throwing rocks. The subject was released.

15:22 - A caller advised that someone had taken the stop sign on CR 230 at CR 231. Deputy Webber gathered information to be given to the Commissioner.

15:30 - Dispatch received a 911 call from an address in the 1500 block of Hwy 77 South. A female subject stated that her daughter attacked her before the phone disconnected. Dispatch was able to contact the individual back who advised her daughter took off on foot after assaulting her. Capt. Allen, Sgt. Ray, Cpl. Ellington, Deputy Kocurek and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call. Units were able to make contact with both parties, who were separated. A criminal trespass warning was issued to the daughter, and she was given a courtesy ride to a residence in Giddings. Information was taken for a report.

16:51 - Deputy E. Hilmo was dispatched to Hwy 290 East for a reckless driver. The caller advised that a Toyota SUV was traveling westbound and driving recklessly. The deputy checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.

16:59 - A motorist reported a Toyota SUV driving recklessly on Hwy 290 West traveling eastbound. The vehicle was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. Deputy E. Hilmo checked the area but was unable to locate the vehicle. Information was passed on to Fayette County.

18:51 - A complainant wanted it documented that his child was not released to him at his residence on CR 127. Information was taken for documentation.

19:54 - A resident on CR 123 requested to speak with Sgt. West in regard to an ongoing issue. When the resident was informed that Sgt. West was not on duty, he requested to speak with another deputy. Deputy Dudley spoke with the residence, who stated he would call back when Sgt. West was back on duty.

22:22 - Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson were dispatched to CR 119 for a noise complaint. The complainant advised that the loud music was coming from the dirt road where a trail ride was occurring. The deputy spoke with the organizer of the trail ride, and he advised the deputies that he would turn the bass all the way off.

23:41 - Deputy Dickerson conducted a traffic stop at the Travel Plaza on Hwy 290. A PC search was conducted on the vehicle and a large number of purses, clothes, perfumes, and other material items were found. Deputy Dudley arrived on scene to assist. Dispatch made contact with other agencies to see if any thefts occurred recently in their jurisdictions. Austin PD confirmed of a robbery at the Ulta on Lakeline Mall Drive but advised they had the suspects in custody. Deputy Dickerson confiscated the items for inventory and returned to the Sheriff's Office with Deputy Dudley. After further investigation at the office, contact was made with Austin PD again, and they advised that the two females involved in the traffic stop matched the description of the females involved in the robbery. Information was taken for a report.

 

June 3, 2023

01:52 - A caller from Hwy 77 North in Lexington reported that she heard what sounded like a young male screaming in the distance. Deputy Dudley responded to the call and checked the area but could not locate any suspicious person or activity.

08:02 - Deputy E. Hilmo met with a complainant on CR 449 about a stolen motorcycle. The complainant stated that he purchased the motorcycle off of Facebook marketplace without a title. At some point throughout the night, someone stole the motorcycle. Information was taken for a report.

10:31 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a residence off US 77 South. Cpl. Ellington responded and made contact with the homeowner. They advised it was an accidental call.

11:27 - A caller reported a litter of puppies dumped on the side of the road on CR 125 near FM 180. Deputy E. Hilmo checked the area and located the puppies. They were taken to the on-call animal control officer for her to keep them until she can get them into the shelter.

11:53 - Cpl. Ellington was dispatched to FM 696 between CR 304 and CR 305 for a motorist assist. Another motorist advised that there was a vehicle broke down in the lane of traffic on the farm to market road. The deputy located the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The vehicle was off the roadway, and the driver was waiting on someone to help with a tire change.

13:36 - A caller reported a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 290 East about two miles east of Giddings. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were off the roadway. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo responded and advised that it was a one vehicle accident vehicle involving a deer. The driver stated that her vehicle is drivable. Cpl. Ellington cleared the roadway of debris. No crash report was taken.

14:57 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from an address on FM 2440. Cpl. Ellington responded and made contact with the homeowner who advised it was an accidental call.

17:09 - Cpl. Ellington met with a complainant at his residence on FM 448 in reference to theft. The complainant stated that someone broke into his vehicle and stole some tools, oil field pipes and tires. The complainant was referred to Giddings PD since the incident occurred inside the city limits.

18:07 - A 911 caller reported a reckless driver on Hwy 77 South traveling southbound failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. At the time of the call, the vehicle was passing FM 1624. Deputy E. Hilmo located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop by the Giddings High School. The deputy requested EMS due to the driver needing medical attention. Cpl. Ellington arrived on scene to assist with the stop. EMS cleared the driver. Contact was made for the truck and driver to be picked up by family.

18:11 - Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson were dispatched to a residence on Main Avenue in Lincoln for criminal mischief. The owner stated that someone broke into her trailer and broke all the windows and a motorcycle. Information was taken for a report.

18:50 - Giddings PD requested a deputy to make scene at the police department. Sgt. Holloway responded and assisted Giddings PD on Inge Street with a civil matter.

20:32 - Deputy Dickerson spoke with a residence from CR 302 about her husband showing up at the house when he hasn't lived there for months. She was worried about her and her children's safety due to the fact that her husband has assaulted her and her children in the past. When the deputy spoke with the resident, she was not home at the time. The deputy then spoke with the husband who stated he has no protective order or court order stating he cannot be at his home. No criminal offense has taken place at this time.

21:23 - A caller stated that she was out of town but saw on her security cameras a blue colored pickup truck on her property on CR 302, and she would like a deputy to check the area to make sure her property wasn't messed with. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson responded and checked the property. Everything was secure, and there were no signs of suspicious activity.

23:01 - Sgt. Holloway was dispatched to FM 141 near CR 428 for a tree blocking the roadway. Dispatch notified TXDOT of the tree. Sgt. Holloway remained on scene for traffic control. TXDOT arrived on scene and cleared the roadway.

 

June 4, 2023

00:03 - Deputy Dudley advised that he was out with Giddings PD on East Galveston Street for warrant service. No report was taken.

00:17 - A complainant from FM 141 reported that her and her boyfriend had broken up, and he was texting her and making threats towards her and her family. Deputy Dickerson met with the complainant who advised that her ex-boyfriend was on his way to her house to pick up his things. The complainant was advised that when the ex-boyfriend was close, to call the Sheriff's Office so a deputy could make scene to conduct a civil standby. At 01:53, the complainant called back and stated that her ex-boyfriend was almost at her residence. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley responded to the call. Upon arrival, the ex-boyfriend and his brother were at the residence. For the safety of the deputies and others on scene, the ex-boyfriend was temporarily detained. A criminal trespass warning was issued to the ex-boyfriend, and he was released. No report at this time.

00:38 - Dispatch received a 911 call in regard to a possible disturbance at the Whataburger drive-thru. The call was transferred to Giddings PD. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD in attempting to locate the vehicle that fled the scene. The units were unable to locate the vehicle.

08:13 - Deputy E. Hilmo responded to a call about goats out in the 4200 block of Hwy 21 across from Bubba's Truck Stop. Cpl. Ellington assisted Deputy E. Hilmo with securing the livestock behind the Dime Box Vet Clinic.

09:56 - Deputy E. Hilmo came across some goats in the roadway at the 2800 block of FM 180. The goats were secured, and contact was made with the owner.

09:59 - Giddings PD advised they received a call about a building behind Buc-ee's with open doors and a screen missing from the window. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD with making entry into the building. Everything appeared to be okay.

10:57 - A complainant from CR 302 called stating that she came home to get some belongings, but her estranged husband was at the house. She requested a deputy for a civil standby. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call. The complainant was able to get her belongings without incident. The husband called the Sheriff's Office wanting to speak to a deputy about his wife's behavior. Deputy E. Hilmo spoke with the husband and advised him to consult with his legal counsel.

12:34 - Dispatch received a 911 call from a female who stated that a postal worker hit her vehicle on East Industry Street. The call was transferred to the Giddings PD. Capt. Allen and Cpl. Ellington assisted until Giddings PD arrived on scene.

13:07 - Cpl. Ellington was dispatched to CR 431 for a 911 hang up call. Dispatch called the number back with no answer. The deputy made contact with an individual, who advised it was an accident.

13:25 - A motorist stated that she was stranded on the side of the road on CR 118 with a flat tire. She needed assistance with changing the tire. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and advised there were other people on scene already assisting with a tire change.

14:37 - Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD with a theft call at Brookshire Brothers. Units were looking for a male subject with a backpack who stole a package of meat. The subject was located by Giddings PD.

17:07 - Williamson County transferred a 911 call from CR 302 regarding a disturbance. The husband stated that his wife was back out on the property taking things from the house. Deputy E. Hilmo was enroute when the husband advised that his wife was leaving the property. The deputy made contact with the husband via phone. He advised he did not want to pursue any charges, and only wanted the incident documented. He was advised to consult with his attorney.

17:18 - Dispatch received an automated crash alert from an iPhone on Hwy 77 North in Tangelwood. Deputy E. Hilmo, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call along with Tanglewood VFD and EMS. Dispatch made several attempts to contact the number, but no one answered. EMS and VFD checked the area but could not locate a crash. Deputy Dudley checked the area to the Milam County line and did not see any vehicles on the side of the road.

17:41 - Cpl. Ellington stopped out with a on the side of the road on Hwy 290 E near the Fayette County line. Contact was made with the driver, who advised she had someone on the way to fix the vehicle. Sgt. Holloway assisted Cpl. Ellington. A wrecker was called and took possession of the vehicle.

19:19 - Deputy Dudley advised he was clearing roadway debris near the 2000 block of Hwy 77 South. The roadway was cleared.

22:54 - A 911 caller requested EMS at an address on CR 306 due to his stepfather being unconscious but breathing. EMS responded to the call. At 23:47, EMS requested a deputy to make scene because the male subject was deceased. Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson were dispatched to the scene. Information was taken for a report.
