May 1, 2023

08:28 - Cpl. Ellington met with a complainant on CR 213 in reference to a scam. The complainant was contacted by persons claiming to be with publishers' clearing house. They told her in order to claim the prize money she would have send them money. Information was taken for a fraud report.

08:32 - Deputy E. Hilmo checked on a disabled motorist on CR 311. The driver advised everything was okay.

16:52 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding a child custody issue. The caller stated that she has legal custody of a child that was removed from the parents and placed in her custody. The parents are trying to dispute the court's decision. Deputy Kocurek spoke with the caller and advised her to call police if she has any issues with the parents.

17:42 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to Elm Creek RV Park to meet with a caller about an eviction notice. The caller stated that the property owner served her with an eviction notice that morning, and she had to be out by the end of the day. The property owner had already contacted a towing company to remove the RV from the premises. Both parties involved were advised it was a civil matter. The property owner agreed to give the caller 7 more days to vacate the property. No report at this time.

18:12 - Dispatch received a call about a suspicious vehicle located at a vacant house in Lexington on the corner of Shaw Street and Avenue D. Deputy Dickerson checked the area but could not locate the vehicle. The deputy spoke with the caller and got a license plate number. The caller was advised to call back if the vehicle returned.

18:23 - Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to a call about a cow out on CR 329. Dispatch attempted to locate an owner, but no information was found. The deputies were able to remove the cow from the roadway.

19:37 - A motorist reported a white cow out on FM 696 West near CR 337. Deputy Dickerson checked the area but could not locate any loose livestock.

20:42 - Sgt. Strouth advised that he had received a call about someone on a golf cart driving recklessly on CR 314 at the water plant. Deputy Dudley searched the area but could not locate anyone on the property.

21:20 - Deputy Dickerson advised he was out with a suspicious vehicle at the Lexington Park. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure.

22:00 - Deputy Dickerson conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of West Austin Street in Giddings. Giddings PD assisted at the request of the deputy. When the deputy approached the vehicle, contraband could be seen in plain sight. A pc search was conducted. B&M Towing was dispatched to the scene and took possession of the vehicle. One male subject was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail.

22:24 - A motorist reported a female subject walking down Hwy 290 in the westbound lane of traffic walking towards Giddings. Deputy Dudley checked the area to the Bastrop County line but could not locate the subject.

 

May 2, 2023

07:15 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up from a resident on CR 101. The resident called back and said he was trying to turn his phone off when it dialed. There was no emergency.

09:36 - A caller reported a donkey in the ditch on FM 3403 near Hwy 21. A second caller advised the donkey was near PR 8028. Cpl. Ellington responded and checked the area but was unable to locate the donkey.

10:00 - A motorist advised of a box truck pulling a trailer that was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic on FM 112 traveling towards Williamson County. The motorist stated that the vehicle almost hit several other vehicles. Due to no units in the area, the call was transferred to Williamson County.

12:25- Cpl. Ellington met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to a case follow up.

16:10 - Dispatch received a call about a disabled 18-wheeler partially in the roadway on Hwy 77 North in Lexington. Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call and requested the next on rotation for a big rig wrecker. Express was dispatched to the scene and took possession of the 18-wheeler.

17:20 - A property owner on CR 433 requested to speak to a deputy about how to get his bull back on his property. Cpl. Ellington attempted to make contact with the property owner but could not get an answer. Continued attempts will be made to make contact with the owner.

21:43 - Deputy Dudley was dispatched to the area of CR 133 about five miles from Bucees for suspicious vehicles. The caller stated that about three to four cars parked at an entrance to a house. The deputy checked the area and observed no signs of suspicious activity.

22:30 - Giddings PD conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of West Austin Street. Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson arrived on scene to assist.

23:30 - Deputy Dickerson advised he was out with a suspicious female subject at the intersection of East Hempstead and South Johnson Avenue in Giddings. The female advised she was just looking for her cat. She was advised to not wander into the roadway.

 

May 3, 2023

00:05 - Dispatch received a phone call from a translator reporting an accident involving a vehicle and a deer in the 6300 block of Hwy 77 North in Lincoln. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call. Tillery Wrecker was dispatched to the scene and took possession of the vehicle. The driver was given a courtesy ride to Giddings.

02:42 - A female subject called 911 to report that her boyfriend had assaulted her, and she was driving on FM 141 towards Giddings. At the time of the call, the female was passing CR 119. Every time dispatch tried to gather more information, the subject would hang up the phone. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call. The deputies located the vehicle at a residence on CR 123. Attempts were made to make contact with the female subject but were unsuccessful.

09:50 - Brinks Home Security advised of a residential alarm at a residence off US 77. Deputy L. Brown responded and checked the residence. Everything was secure.

10:29 - Giddings PD requested assistance with an animal case at the animal shelter. Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo assisted with the call.

13:03 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a disabled vehicle in the 5000 block of FM 696 West. The driver advised they were changing a flat tire.

13:55 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised he was out with a cow in the 4800 block of FM 1624. The cow was removed and secured off the roadway.

17:48 - A caller reported six puppies had been dumped near his residence on CR 137. Deputy J. Brown responded to the call, and advised Giddings Animal Shelter was unable to take the puppies due to limited space. Another shelter was contacted and advised they would be unable to accept the puppies as well. The caller stated he would keep the puppies until placement was found.

18:45 - Sgt. Strouth conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Main Street in Giddings on an 18-wheeler displaying a fake paper tag. Deputy Haman and Giddings PD assisted with the stop. The vehicle was not a registered vehicle, and the driver was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license. The driver was cited and given a courtesy ride to a store to wait on a ride. Govan's took possession of the 18-wheeler.

19:20 - Dispatch received a call about loud music in the Town and Country Mobile Home Park. Deputy J. Brown responded and located the loud music. The subject was advised to turn down the music. The Sheriff's Office did not receive any more calls about the music.

21:46 - A resident reported there was a vehicle parked at the end of his driveway near the 3400 block of Hwy 21 West. Deputy J. Brown responded and made contact with the occupants. They advised the vehicle had a flat and were unable to get a tire repair service to assist. They also advised the vehicle did not have a spare tire. Deputy Haman also responded to the call to assist. The property owner stated it was okay to leave the vehicle there until they were able to pick it up.

23:46 - Deputy Haman checked out with a motorist on Hwy 21 at FM 3403. The motorist advised they were just checking the trailer lights.

 

May 4, 2023

03:20 - Deputy Haman advised that she was out at the Country Store in Dime Box with a vehicle that appeared to have hit an animal. The driver advised they hit a deer, but the vehicle was drivable.

06:32 - Dispatch received a call about a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 77 at FM 3403. Deputy J. Hilmo and Trooper McCoy responded to the accident. TxDOT was notified of a sign that was hit and down. DPS took the crash report.

09:27 - Deputy Webber requested a warrant check on a subject that was in court. The subject came back wanted out of this agency. Sgt. Ray transported the subject to the Lee County Jail for booking.

09:47 - Sgt. West checked out with a disabled 18-wheeler on CR 430 near CR 424. The driver advised he was stuck on the RR crossing. The load was being unloaded to get the 18-wheeler unstuck.

10:36 - A complainant from CR 415 West requested to speak to a deputy about theft of her chickens. Sgt. West met with the complainant, and information was taken for a report.

10:41 - Deputy L. Brown advised he was out with a disabled motorist on CR 430 in Dime Box. The motorist moved the vehicle to a safe location off the roadway and would be working on the vehicle.

10:53 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a camper that had been red tagged a couple of weeks ago on Hwy 21 near CR 440. BDS was dispatched to remove the camper.

11:01 - A caller reported a cow walking on the roadway on CR 232 near CR 230. Deputy L. Brown checked the area but could not locate any loose livestock.

13:38 - Sgt. Holloway was out with an oversized load on Hwy 21 at FM 3403. The westbound lane of traffic was shut down for the load to make the turn on to FM 3403.

16:31 - Dispatch received several open 911 calls from the same number at Altman Plants. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area and advised everything was okay.

17:27 - Deputy J. Hilmo was dispatched to Town and Country Mobile Home Park in reference to a dog bite. The caller stated that the neighbor's dog tried to bite her and tore her clothing. The dog owner was advised to keep the dog secured.

18:55 - A security company reported an alarm at a business on CR 234. Deputy Haman checked the area, and everything was secure.

20:22 - A resident on CR 230 requested to speak with a deputy about dogs that keep coming onto her property. Deputy Haman made several attempts to contact the resident back but was unsuccessful in making contact.

 

May 5, 2023

01:10 - Deputy J. Brown checked out at the Lexington High School with multiple vehicles in the back parking lot. All vehicles were unoccupied and secure.

01:53 - Deputy Haman checked out with a disabled vehicle on the east bound off ramp of Hwy 21 and Hwy 77. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure.

03:36 - A complainant on Third Street in Lexington advised that his ex was being aggressive towards him. He advised it was only verbal at the time. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded to the call. The female subject left the scene prior to arrival. Information was taken for a report for damage to complainant's vehicle and motorcycle.

06:16 - Cpl. Ellington assisted Giddings PD in the 100 block of South Caldwell Street for a possible stolen vehicle.

07:41 - Reserve Deputy Stem removed debris from the roadway on CR 410.

08:00 - A commercial vehicle was sitting in the center turn lane of Hwy 290 West near CR 205. Deputy E. Hilmo made contact with the driver and advised him to go to the nearest gas station.

09:51 - Reserve Deputy Stem removed loose cattle off the roadway in the 1800 block of CR 419.

10:11 - A motorist advised that he was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 21 near the Bastrop County line. Trooper McCoy, Cpl. Ellington, Deputy L. Brown and Reserve Deputy Stem responded to the accident.  EMS and Lincoln VFD were also dispatched to the scene. Govan's and B&M took possession of the vehicles. Crash report was taken by DPS.

13:21 - Deputy E. Hilmo came across a damaged fence and mailbox in the 2000 block of CR 200. No contact could be made with the property owner. The deputy moved the mailbox back to its proper place and left a business card.

14:10 - A complainant on Shady Circle advised that his neighbor threatened to shoot his dogs. Cpl. Ellington met with both parties, and advised no offense occurred. It was just a disagreement between the neighbors. The owner of the dogs will keep them pinned up.

14:50 - Deputy E. Hilmo met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to fraud. The complainant stated she recently sold her house and was waiting on a refund check from her insurance company. She was told by the insurance company that the new homeowner had forged her name on the check and deposited it into his bank account. Contact was made with the homeowner who advised he would return the money that day. Information was taken for a report.

16:31 - Dispatch received a 911 call from an address on CR 309 in Lexington. Dispatch made attempts to call the number back but received no answer. Cpl. Ellington responded and checked the property. Nothing suspicious was found.

18:31 - A 911 caller reported that he saw smoke coming from a house as he was driving by in the 4100 block of Hwy 21 East. Dime Box VFD responded to the call and requested a deputy to make scene. Sgt. Holloway made contact with individuals involved with the fire. One subject came back wanted and was transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.

19:14 - A motorist advised of debris in the roadway on Hwy 290 East near PR 6016. Deputy Dudley checked the area but was unable to locate any debris.

19:21 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to Hwy 21 about two miles west of Dime Box for a suspicious person. A caller stated that he and his daughter saw a male subject in a neon green shirt standing on the side of the road attempting to wave down motorist. He advised that it looked like he had a knife in his hand. The deputy located the subject, and advised he had a cigarette in his hand, not a knife. The subject was identified and later discovered he was a part of the house fire that occurred in the previous call on Hwy 21. Deputy Dickerson transported the male subject to the scene of the fire.

19:49 - A female subject called 911 to report that her husband just assaulted her. Deputy Dudley, Lexington Chief Garza, and Constable Stephens responded to the call off FM 1624. The husband had left the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival.

21:22 - Deputy Dudley was dispatched to the 1400 block of CR 309 for loose cattle. The caller stated that about ten to twelve head of black and brown cattle were out on the roadway. Before the deputy could make the scene, the caller called back to advise he pushed the cattle off the roadway.

22:26 - A motorist reported that he had been in a one-vehicle accident on FM 180 about one mile north of FM 1697. He advised that he hit a cow in the roadway. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley responded to the call but could not locate the accident. Dispatch made contact with the motorist who advised that he was able to drive his vehicle home. The motorist also advised that he and the owner of the cow made arrangements for the damage to the vehicle.

 

May 6, 2023

00:10 - Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley were dispatched to Hwy 21 near FM 3403 for a suspicious person. The caller stated that a male subject was walking along side of the road, and just wanted a deputy to check on the subject due to the weather coming in for the night. Contact was made with the subject and was identified as the same male subject involved in the previous calls. The subject told the deputies he was headed towards Cedar Creek. Deputy Dudley gave the male subject a courtesy ride to the travel center in Paige.

08:19 - Dispatch received a call from a Victoria PD officer, who stated that he was out with a man who hit a deer on Hwy 77 about five miles south of Giddings. The man requested an accident report for insurance purposes. Deputy E. Hilmo spoke with the driver, and Cpl. Ellington checked the highway from Giddings to the county line and did not see any signs of an accident. Deputy E. Hilmo took the driver's information and gave him the event id number.

08:52 - A resident on Caldwell Street in Lexington called to report he had a golden retriever pinned in his backyard. He advised that the dog has been killing his livestock and wants it taken to the animal shelter. Cpl. Ellington made contact with the resident who agreed to leave the dog in the pin until contact could be made with an animal control officer.

10:25 - A 911 caller advised of a rolling disturbance on Hwy 77 North going southbound. The caller stated that a gray Chevrolet passenger car was traveling behind her and was all over the roadway. A young male passenger was trying to get out of the vehicle while it was still in motion. At the time of call, they were entering Lexington. Reserve Deputy Terpstra located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled southbound on Hwy 77 at a high rate of speed. Reserve Deputy Terpstra pursued the vehicle along with the assistance of Cpl. Ellington, but they lost sight of the vehicle.

13:19 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra was dispatched to the 3900 block of FM 1624 for a loose calf. The area was checked but there was no loose livestock in the area.

14:36 - Dispatch received a call about an alarm at a residence off US 77. Cpl. Ellington responded and made contact with the resident. Everything was okay.

14:55 - Cpl. Ellington assisted a stranded motorist on Hwy 77 near PR 7704. The vehicle was blocking the outside lane of traffic. The deputy was able to assist with getting the spare tire on and follow the motorist to a store.

16:21 - Deputy E. Hilmo checked out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 77 near CR 411. The deputy made contact with the driver, who advised he was just changing a tire.

18:18 - Lexington Officer Reyna advised that she was out with a suspicious individual at the corner of Third Street and Rockdale. Deputy Dudley assisted with the individual. No report was taken.

19:22 - A caller reported a calf near the roadway in the 1600 block of FM 141. Sgt. Holloway checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

21:17 - Deputy Dickerson advised he was out with a stranded motorist on Hwy 290 near CR 236. The driver stated that they ran out of gas and had someone on the way to help.

21:52 - Sgt. Holloway advised he was out with two black cows near the 1500 block of CR 426. The cows were secured off the roadway.

22:22 - A resident on CR 447 stated that he could hear music coming from CR 430. Sgt. Holloway checked CR 430 and CR 447 to the Burleson County line but could not locate any loud noises.

22:52 - Sgt. Holloway advised of debris in the roadway near the 2700 block of CR 430. The debris was removed from the roadway.

 

May 7, 2023

00:37 - The resident on CR 447 advised that he could hear the music again and requested a deputy to come to his residence so he could point out where he was hearing the noise. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call. Contact was made with the complainant who advised the music had stopped.

02:59 - A motorist called 911 to report that they hit a deer on Hwy 77 North near CR 405. The motorist advised that no airbags were deployed, and the vehicle was still drivable. Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call. Information was given to the driver for insurance purposes.

03:56 - Sgt. Holloway was dispatched to Cefco in Lexington for a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that a tan in color car had been parked in the back for a couple of days. Contact was made with the occupant who advised he was waiting for it to be daylight to continue his travels. The caller was also notified of the situation.

07:33 - An alarm company reported a residential burglar alarm call at an address on FM 141. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo were enroute when the alarm company advised they were able to reach the homeowner who advised it was a false alarm.

07:42 - Dispatch received a 911 call from an address on CR 121 and could hear a child speaking. Dispatch called the number back, but no one answered. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo responded and made contact with the occupants. They advised their son called 911 by accident.

08:35 - Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo were dispatched to a residence on Hail Street in Lexington for a welfare concern. The caller stated that the subject had posted on Facebook and thought it was a suicide note. Deputies attempted to make contact, but the subject was not home.

09:56 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a number located at Altman Plants. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and made contact with the shift supervisor. It was an employee who stated that when he puts his phone in his pocket it calls 911. There was no emergency.

11:34 - A motorist reported some goats out on CR 430 near Hwy 21. Cpl. Ellington checked the area but could not locate any loose livestock.

12:05 - Cpl. Ellington and Deputy E. Hilmo were dispatched to the same address on Hale Street to check on the subject again. The caller stated that she and family members cannot get in contact with the subject. The landlord gave the deputies access to the residence. The deputies made entry, but the subject was not in the house. The caller called back and stated that she spoke with the subject. He advised he was okay. Information was taken for a report.

12:16 - Cpl. Ellington came across a one-vehicle accident on FM 141 near CR 424. The vehicle ran off the road and hit the county road sign. The juvenile driver was given a courtesy ride to Dime Box Grocery.

14:15 - A complainant came to the Sheriff's Office to follow up on a case. Deputy E. Hilmo met with the complainant, and information was taken.

15:59 - A motorist reported a suspicious looking vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy 290. The vehicle was a black SUV with dark tinted windows and no plates. Deputy E. Hilmo located and stopped the vehicle on Hwy 290 west of the Giddings City Cemetery. The driver advised he had just purchased the vehicle at an auction. The driver was given a written warning.

17:24 - Dispatch received four 911 hang up calls back-to-back from a number located on CR 320. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and made contact with the property owner. They advised it was just a pocket dial, and there was no emergency.

18:15 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out on FM 3403 with a disabled vehicle. The driver was given a courtesy ride to their residence on CR 135. They advised that they would be back to pick up the vehicle.

18:25 - Cpl. Ellington advised of debris in the roadway on Hwy 290 going eastbound. The debris was removed from the roadway.

20:45 - A 911 caller reported that a truck was swerving on Hwy 21 and ran off the roadway near Elm Creek RV Park. Deputy Dudley, Deputy Dickerson, EMS and Lincoln VFD were dispatched to the scene. Deputies arrived on scene first and advised there were no injuries. EMS was cancelled. Deputy Dickerson advised that the driver was taken into custody for DWI. The subject was taken to be medically cleared before being booked into the Lee County Jail. Tillery's took possession of the vehicle.

20:47 - Sgt. Holloway advised he was out with Giddings PD at an address on South Polk Street. No report was taken.

22:49 - Giddings PD requested assistance with locating a male subject who jumped out of a vehicle and was intoxicated walking eastbound in the westbound lane of Hwy 290. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley all responded to the call and located the subject laying down on the ground outside the city limits in the ditch. Giddings PD arrested the subject, and Deputy Dickerson transported him to the Lee County Jail.
