April 10 - April 16, 2023

 

April 10, 2023

00:24 - Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings Police Department with a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West Austin Street.

01:20 - Deputy E. Hilmo came across a suspicious vehicle parked outside of the Country Store on Hwy 21 East. Upon making contact, the occupants were found to be sleeping before getting back on the roadway.

01:55 - Dispatch received a call about a male subject knocking on the caller's front door in the 1400 block of CR 441. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call. Sgt. Holloway located and identified the male subject. The male was placed into custody for Criminal Trespass. Once at the jail, the male was found to be concealing a prohibited substance. The subject was charged with said substance and booked into jail.

06:17 - A 911 caller advised of a major accident in front of Hill Top Chevron. The call was transferred to Giddings PD. Trooper McCoy and Deputy J. Hilmo responded for assistance. Giddings VFD and EMS were also dispatched to the scene.

09:14 - Bastrop County passed on a silent 911 call coming from an address on PR 7024. Dispatch was able to make contact with the caller who advised it was an accidental call.

10:50 - Deputy L. Brown was dispatched to the 4200 block of FM 180 for a calf out. The area was checked but the calf could not be located.

11:05 - A complainant on CR 305 requested to speak to a deputy about the church property being torn up by kids on 4-wheelers. They advised they have the incident on camera. Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw met with the complainant, and a report was taken.

11:30 - Deputy K. Hilmo checked out at an address on CR 208 for a case follow up. Information was taken.

14:19 - A property owner on PR 3071 stated he had a bull on his property that doesn't belong to him. He requested to speak to a deputy about what to do with the bull. Cpl. West met with the property owner, and information was taken. No report at this time.

14:23 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver going north on Hwy 77 near CR 223. The vehicle was failing to maintain a single lane or traffic and was speeding excessively. All county units checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

15:43 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 21 near Bubba's Truck Stop. The vehicle was partially blocking a lane of traffic. The driver advised he needed to change the tire. The tire was changed, and the vehicle was back on the road.

15:59 - A complainant requested to speak to a deputy about his vehicle being towed from an address on CR 128. The complainant stated the tow truck driver hit his leg. Deputy Crenshaw made contact with the complainant and advised him to come to the Sheriff's Office to fill out a statement since he lives out of county.

17:08 - A motorist reported two donkeys and a horse out near the sky diving place on FM 696 East. Cpl. West and Const. Stephens located the animals and secured the off the roadway.

17:56 - Deputy J. Brown met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to items being stolen from his property on PR 8049. A close patrol was set in place for the property.

18:01 - Dispatch received a call about a cow out on FM 696 East near CR 401. Deputy Haman located the cow and removed it from the roadway.

18:13 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to PR 5016 for a welfare checked. The caller requested a welfare check on her niece and nephew. No contact was made due to no one being home. The caller was updated.

18:51 - Deputy J. Brown checked out at an address on PR 8049 for a follow up. The subject was not home.

19:29 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 696 West near the Blue VFD. Deputy Haman secured the cow off the roadway, and the owner was notified.

19:37 - Trooper Pennartz conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Hwy 21 West. Deputy J. Brown arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop.

20:57 - Deputy Haman checked out with Trooper Pennartz on Hwy 77 and CR 114 for a traffic stop. The female driver was taken into custody. Deputy Haman transported the female to the Lee County Jail for booking. A report was taken.

21:07 - A staff member from Bubba's Truck Stop that a male subject was in the store and seemed confused. Deputy J. Brown responded and requested EMS. EMS transported the subject to a hospital.

23:46 - Deputy Haman was dispatched to a residence on Hwy 290 West for a suspicious person. The caller stated that she could hear a man yelling outside of her house. The deputy checked the area but could not locate anyone or hear anything.

 

April 11, 2023

02:06 - Giddings PD conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of East Austin Street. Deputy Haman arrived to assist with the stop.

04:44 - Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown were dispatched to FM 696 West near Sherrill Lane for a one vehicle accident. Blue VFD and EMS also responded to the accident. The driver was okay and refused transport from EMS. Lexington Auto took possession of the vehicle per the driver's request. A crash report was taken.

06:47 - A caller reported loose cattle on Hwy 77 near the RV Park. Deputy J. Hilmo located the cows and secured them off the roadway. The owner of the cows was located.

07:47 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a vehicle parked on the side of the road on FM 180 near CR 130. The vehicle was secured and off the roadway.

09:23 - Cpl. West stopped out with an RV on the side of the road on Hwy 21 that had the flashers on. The occupants advise they were okay and just having some issues with the slide outs.

09:43 - A caller stated he received a call from his mother who stated that there was a rattle snake in the house. Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the call on Hwy 77 South. Contact was made with the care giver on scene, and they checked the house for a snake. No snake was found.

14:34 - Sgt. Ray and Deputy Crenshaw were dispatched to Trailside Drive in Elgin for a suspicious vehicle. The caller's wife stated that she saw a bright blue Ford F150 with loud pipes pull into their driveway. A male subject jumped out of the back of the truck. When she told them to get off of their property, the man got back in the truck, and they drove up the road to another driveway. The deputies checked the area but could not locate a vehicle matching the description.

15:25 - A resident on CR 217 called to report a suspicious vehicle on the side of the road near her property that had been there for 20-30 minutes. She saw someone pick up the driver and later brought him back. The hood of the van was up, and the man was working on it. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area but could not locate the van or the male subject.

16:00 - Dispatch received a call about three horses out on the roadway on FM 3403 near PR 8034. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area and advised the roadway was clear.

16:43 - Cpl. West and Deputy J. Hilmo met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to harassment. She stated that she is being harassed at her place of employment on Hwy 290. The complainant was asked to complete a statement form. A report is pending at this time.

18:00 - A motorist reported a truck and trailer in the ditch on Hwy 21 E in Dime Box that was trying to pull back into traffic. Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the driver who advised someone was on the way to help pull them out.

19:27 - Trooper Pennartz conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 290 East near CR 138. An occupant in the vehicle came back wanted out of our agency. Sgt. Strouth responded to assist with the traffic stop. The driver was also arrested for hindering. Both subjects were booked into the Lee County Jail.

19:57 - Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown were dispatched to CR 425 to meet with a complainant about his neighbor taking pictures of his home. Contact was made with the complainant and the neighbor. It was found that there is an ongoing issue between the two. Information was taken for a report.

 

April 12, 2023

00:31 - Alarm Connections called to report an alarm at Lexington Food Mart 8889. Deputy Haman checked the property, and everything was secure.

00:37 - Deputy Haman advised of a cow out on Hwy 77 near Rockdale Street in Lexington. The cow was secured off the roadway.

04:27 - A motorist reported a cow out on Hwy 77 South but was unable to give exact location. Sgt. Strouth checked the area to the county line and was unable to locate any loose livestock.

04:41 - Dispatch received a call about a cow out on Hwy 77 near CR 114. Deputy J. Brown checked the area to CR 135 but did not locate any loose livestock.

05:18 - Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown assisted Giddings PD with an accident on Hwy 77 South near the American Legion Hall. Multiple callers advised that a semi-truck hit a cow. Giddings VFD was dispatched to assist with traffic control.

09:37 - Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst conducted a follow up investigation on South Leon Street in Giddings.

10:15 - A caller reported a brown horse out on FM 3403 near CR 442. Deputy Kocurek checked the area and found no horses out. Dispatch received another call around 11:45 about the horses out again in the same location. Const. Stephens located the horses, which were not out on the road, but the gate needs to be repaired. Contact was made with an individual about the gate.

12:26 - Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst were dispatched to a residence on PR 5016 for a welfare concern. The caller requested a welfare check on her juvenile niece and nephew. Deputies tried to make contact with the mother and children, but no one was home. The caller was notified of the same.

14:30 - A motorist reported two horses out on FM 3403 near CR 442. Deputy Kocurek checked the area and advised the horses were back on the property. Dispatch made contact with an individual, who advised she will send someone to repair the gate.

18:05 - Deputy E. Hilmo was dispatched to CR 424 near the railroad tracks for a calf out. The deputy checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

18:29 - A resident on FM 141 advised that a vehicle was parked near her residence and would like a deputy to check it out. Deputy Dickerson checked the area and was unable to find a vehicle parked near the residence.

23:05 - Deputy Dickerson checked out with a suspicious person in front of Burger King in Giddings. Contact was made with the individual, and everything was fine.

23:08 - Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD at the First National Bank parking lot. No report taken.

23:21 - A caller reported a brown cow out on Hwy 77 North near the first light inside of Lexington. Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call and advised that the cow went back through the fence. The fence has damage, and the cow can freely pass in and out easily. Dispatch attempted to find owner information, but none was available.

23:36 - Dispatch received a call about a white cow out of FM 696 East near the Burleson County line. Deputy E. Hilmo located the cow and advised it went back onto the property. The deputy was able to find information on a possible owner. Information was recorded for future calls.

 

April 13, 2023

00:37 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised while he was on a traffic stop, the driver stated that they saw the same brown cow out on Hwy 77 North near the first light inside of Lexington. The deputy located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

07:33 - A motorist reported a cow out on FM180 near CR 133. Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst checked the area but were unable to locate any loose livestock.

08:13 - Dime Box ISD advised that a student had a box cutter and was acting out. Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst responded and transported the student to the Sheriff's Office to be evaluated. An information report was taken.

14:36 - Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst were dispatched to Hwy 21 near the Bastrop County line for a disabled box truck that was blocking a lane of traffic. The driver was able to move the vehicle to the shoulder while they waited for road side assistance coming from Austin.

17:36 - A resident on FM 180 reported that her granddaughter had been missing since 17:28. She advised that the juvenile is nonverbal and autistic. She also advised that her son was checking the property to see if he could locate the juvenile. She had already checked to Hwy 290 from her place of residence and was unable to locate her. Sheriff Goetz, Captain Allen, Sgt. Ray, Deputy Ellington, Deputy Dickerson, Deputy Dudley and Deputy E. Hilmo all responded to the residence along with DPS, the Game Warden, Giddings PD, Giddings VFD and Post Oak VFD. The juvenile was located by DPS helicopter playing in water. She was checked out by EMS and cleared. A report was taken.

21:22 - Deputy Ellington advised he was out on a motorist assist on Hwy 290 E in Washington County. The deputy was able to change the flat tire and get the vehicle back on the roadway.

22:45 - A caller advised that she had hit a mailbox with her vehicle in the 3500 block of CR 133. Deputy Dickerson, Deputy Dudley, and Deputy E. Hilmo all responded to the call. Govan's was requested by the vehicle owner to tow the vehicle. A crash report was taken.

 

April 14, 2023

01:54 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out with a disabled vehicle at Hwy 21 and Hwy 77 intersection. The driver advised everything was fine.

04:19 - Dispatch received a 911 call transfer for a one-vehicle rollover accident from Bastrop County pinging in the 3600 block of Hwy 290 West. Deputy Dickerson and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the call. EMS and Giddings VFD were also paged out to the scene. Govan's took possession of the vehicle. EMS transported two female subjects to a hospital in Austin. Giddings VFD assisted with traffic control and cleared the roadway. A crash report was taken.

07:25 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised he was clearing the roadway of debris from the 7700 block of Hwy 77. The roadway was cleared.

08:47 - A caller reported three young heifers out on CR 455 near Hwy 77. Deputy J. Hilmo located the cows and removed them from the roadway.

11:09 - Deputy Crenshaw was dispatched to an address in the 1000 block of FM 112 for a 911 hang up call. Contact was made with the resident, who advised it was an accident.  

12:21 - Brinks Home Security advised of an alarm coming from a residence on PR 7707. Cpl. West responded and checked the residence. Everything was okay and secured.

13:03 - A Dime Box mail carrier found a black cow out near the 1800 block of CR 424. Deputy Crenshaw responded and found the cow behind the cattle guard upon arrival.

14:55 - Giddings PD advised of a reckless driver leaving Buc-ees and was on Hwy 290 West. They also stated there were several people in the back of a pickup seen drinking out of whiskey bottles. Troop McCoy, Deputy Webber and Deputy J. Hilmo caught up with the vehicle and stopped it just inside the Bastrop County line. No offenses were observed.

15:05 - Burleson County advise of a reckless driver on Hwy 21 in a gray Ford F150 hauling a trailer traveling around 30mph in a 70mph zone. Deputy Crenshaw checked the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.

15:44 - Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw responded to a reckless driver call on Hwy 77 south of Lexington. The area was checked but the deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

16:17 - Dispatch received multiple calls about a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 77 just south of Hwy 21. All Lee County units, Trooper McCoy, Lincoln VFD and EMS responded to the accident. Tillery's took possession of the vehicle, and DPS took the crash report.

17:42 - A resident on Avenue C in Lexington requested a deputy to meet with her for a criminal trespass issue. Sgt. Strouth met with the resident, and a criminal trespass warning was issued to the subject.

19:40 - Deputy Haman was out on PR 4051 to issue a criminal trespass warning. The criminal trespass warning was issued without incident.

20:02 - A caller reported two suspicious vehicles on a job site in the 2100 block of CR 314. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the occupants of the vehicles. The occupants advised they were security that was hired by the company to be there. Everything was okay.

21:47 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 77 S traveling north near CR 217. Information was passed on to Giddings PD due to no units available in the area.

22:06 - Deputy Haman checked out with a disabled vehicle near the 4000 block of Hwy 77 North. The driver advised that the vehicle ran out of battery and was waiting on a wrecker.

22:15 - Dispatch received a 911 call from Apple stating that the owner of the phone had been in an accident near the 10000 block of Hwy 77 North. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded to the call. Sgt. Strouth advised of an overturned vehicle in the ditch. The driver was out of the vehicle and walking around. EMS and Tanglewood VFD were dispatched to the scene. The driver refused transport from EMS. B&M took possession of vehicle. A crash report was taken.

 

April 15, 2023

00:04 - Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman were out at Peterson's Food Mart with two juvenile males walking in the parking lot. The juveniles were identified and given a courtesy ride back to their vehicle at Cefco.

01:38 - A caller advised of a vehicle that had been parked on CR 133 near FM 180 with hazards on for a few hours. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and located the vehicle. The vehicle was secured and off the roadway. Deputies removed a fake paper tag from the vehicle.

04:59 - Sgt. Strouth responded to a call about a large tree blocking the roadway on CR 219 near the Fayette County line. Pct. 2 Commissioner was notified, and the roadway was cleared.

06:48 - Dispatch received another call about the two vehicles on CR 314. Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the call. Dispatch spoke with the site manager who advised he would meet with the deputies when they arrived. The caller was notified that the vehicles were security for the job site.

09:15 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra assisted Giddings PD with a possible stolen vehicle on Hwy 290. Everything was fine.

11:34 - Brinks Home Security reported an alarm at a residence on PR 7707. Reserve Deputy Terpstra responded and made contact with the homeowner. The owner advised he would get the security company to come out and fix the faulty alarm.

12:51 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra was out with a disabled vehicle on FM 141 just south of CR 430. The vehicle was off the roadway and not secured. The deputy locked the vehicle and would be back later.

12:55 - A caller advised of a cow out near his home in the 2000 block of CR 130. Reserve Deputy Terpstra responded and advised the cow was gone upon arrival.

13:25 - Deputy J. Hilmo was dispatched to the area of PR 7711 for a smoke investigation. The area was checked all the way to CR 219 and no signs of smoke were found.

15:25 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra advised there was a woman wearing a green shirt and a hat walking near the ditch southbound on Hwy 77 near CR 405. The deputy made contact with her. She was headed to Austin and refused a courtesy ride.

17:19 - A complainant on PR 1254 advised that someone vandalized his mailbox overnight. He stated that this is the second time in three weeks. Cpl. West spoke with the complainant and advised him to set up some cameras. Information was documented.

19:57 - Dispatch received a 911 call about a cow out on FM 696 West at CR 309. Deputy J. Brown responded and advised owner was on scene upon arrival. The cow was secured off the roadway.

20:09 - Deputy Haman was out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 21 near FM2440. The driver advised they were waiting on a tow truck.

21:07 - Bastrop County transferred a call about a reckless driver on FM 696 West coming into the county from Elgin. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

21:24 - Giddings PD received a call for a one-vehicle accident on South Williamson Street and requested assistance. Sgt. Strouth assisted with the accident. The Driver was arrested for and booked into the Lee County Jail.

22:04 - Deputy J. Brown was on a traffic stop when the driver advised of a vehicle on the side of the road with hazards on. The vehicle was on FM 696 West near the Blue VFD. Contact was made with the drive who advised he was waiting on a tow truck.

22:40 - Sgt. Strouth advised of suspicious vehicle at the Round Top Bank in Lexington. The driver advised they were dropping someone off. Everything was okay.

 

April 16, 2023

06:31 - Deputy Brown checked out with an abandoned vehicle at the corner of CR 114 and CR 143. The vehicle appeared to be stuck in the ditch. It was secured and off the roadway.

12:20 - A motorist reported an 18-wheeler broke down in a lane of traffic on Hwy 77 South at FM 3403. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and checked Hwy 77 all the way from Hwy 21 to Lexington and was unable to locate the 18-wheeler.

14:42 - Deputy J. Hilmo was out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 77 at PR 7707. The driver was given a courtesy ride to O'Rileys in Giddings.

16:05 - Dispatch received a call about goats out on FM 141 at CR 428. Trooper Pennartz removed the animals from roadway. He advised that the goats knocked the fence over. Cpl. West notified the property owner.

16:30 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a vehicle in the Zochnet parking lot on Hwy 77. Contact was made with the driver, who advised he was just waiting to do a child exchange.

17:37 - A caller advised that the goats were out again on FM 141 at CR 428. Deputy Crenshaw responded and removed the goats from the roadway. The owner was on the way to repair the fence.

19:06 - Deputy J. Brown spoke with a complainant about a criminal trespass he has against him from an address on CR 233. The complainant was advised of his rights.

19:23 - Union Pacific called to report cows on the track near CR 117 and CR 118. Deputy J. Brown checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

19:57 - Deputy J. Brown advised of a vehicle parked on the off ramp of Hwy 21 at Hwy 77. Contact was made with the driver, who advised he was just walking his dog.

20:01 - Deputy Haman, Deputy J. Brown and Trooper Pennartz responded to a fight in progress at Tex-Villa Apartments. Trooper Pennartz arrived on scene first and advised no one was fighting. Lee County units were cancelled.

20:44 - Deputy Haman checked out with a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway o Hwy 77 at Hwy 21. The driver advised the passenger is pregnant and was feeling nauseous.

22:03 - A resident on East Bowers in Dime Box reported loud music coming from across the street. Sgt. Strouth was enroute when the resident called back and stated the music was no longer playing.
