SHERIFF'S REPORT

February 6 - February 12, 2023

 

February 6, 2023

05:54 - Sgt. Jones came across a suspicious male walking on CR 309 with no shoes and seems disoriented. The male subject was arrested.

06:20 - Deputy Dickerson responded to a call regarding a cow out on FM 180 and CR 127 but was unable to locate the cow.

07:42- Giddings Police Department called stating someone had called in a dog running on US 290 near Fun Town RV. Deputy Dickerson found the severely injured dog near the 290 Travel Plaza. Giddings PD picked up the dog. 

07:46 - Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner were out with a bull on FM 3403. Deputies were able to locate and secured the bull.

09:00 - Deputy Dickerson responded to multiple calls regarding a bull out on FM 3403. Deputy Dickerson located the bull that was already secured.

10:54 - A motorist reported a white Suburban traveling Eastbound on US 290 failing to maintain a single lane of traffic coming into Giddings. Giddings PD was notified.

12:19 - DPS Troopers responded to a 911 call regarding an 18-wheeler that was blocking the southbound lanes and part of northbound lanes near Camp Lost Pines on Hwy 77. Troopers were unable to locate the vehicle. 

12:21 - Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 21 to meet with a complainant. The complainant stated she was receiving threatening text messages. A report was taken

13:10 - Sgt. Jones responded to a call concerning a cow out on CR 312. Caller stated the young cow had been out for a few weeks and believes it belongs to the property across the street from their property. Sgt. Jones was unable to locate the cow.

18:07 - A resident on CR 201 advised of a male subject walking near their residence and requested a deputy to check make contact.  Deputy Dudley was unable to locate the subject walking.

19:48 - Sgt. Holloway called to report cattle out on FM 180 near CR 132. Sgt. Holloway removed the cattle off the roadway. 

 

February 7, 2023

04:20 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up from CR 200. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Kocurek responded and made contact with the property owners who stated everything was okay.

05:29 - Deputy Turner advised dispatch of a one vehicle accident on Hwy 290 near Round Top Road in Fayette County. Fayette County was notified with the information and has a deputy and trooper responding. Deputy Dickerson also responded, and one male subject came back wanted for multiple warrants. Warrants were confirmed and subject was booking into the Lee County Jail.

06:57 - Sgt. Jones and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to a one vehicle accident on FM 696. The motorist stated that he slid off the road and took down a fence. Dispatch notified the owner of the property. The subject was given a courtesy ride. 

09:00 - A complainant stated that she woke up to a female subject standing in her driveway. She also stated that she was being stalked by this subject. Deputy Dickerson spoke to the complainant and advised that there is no EPO or CTW on the subject. She was referred to JP for assistance in getting an order against the female.

10:06 - Capt. Mastronardi met with a complainant on CR 430 regarding cows. The complainant stated he has called multiple times and the cows are damaging his property and the neighbor's properties. The owner of the cows was notified and advised to fix the fence.  

11:14 - Deputy Ellington advised dispatch of a cow out at FM 696 and CR 337. The cow was removed from the roadway and secured.

11:43 - Deputy E. Hilmo responded to a residence on FM 141 in reference to someone putting a lock on the caller's water meter. The caller was advised that it is her water line it just has another box on top of it.

12:45 - Sgt. Jones stopped a vehicle on Hwy 77 at the Milam County line. The traffic stop led Sgt. Jones to investigate a possible theft of a vehicle at a residence nearby.

12:55 - Deputy E. Hilmo spoke with a complainant regarding someone using their information to open a Conn's credit card in Austin. A report was taken.

17:21 - Dispatch received multiple calls regarding cows out on FM 3403. Sgt. Holloway responded and was unable to locate the cows.

18:11 - Deputy Kocurek responded to a residential burglary alarm on CR 235. The property was check and there were no signs of suspicious activity.

18:26 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call and was unable to make contact. Deputy Dudley and Deputy Kocurek responded to the call. The deputies were unable to locate the residence.

19:22 - A caller advised that cows were out again on CR 430. Sgt. Holloway responded and was unable to locate the cows. 

 

February 8, 2023

01:39 - Sgt. Holloway responded to a 911 hang up call from the Lexington Food Mart. The area was checked and there were no signs of suspicious activity.

02:30 - A motorist advised that they had been in a one vehicle accident that occurred on Hwy 77 North. Deputy Dudley and Sgt. Holloway responded along with Giddings PD. The motorist was given a curtesy ride to a hotel in Giddings. B&M took possession of the vehicle.

06:40 - Dispatch received a call about a tree down covering the road on CR 138. Pct. 1 Commissioner was notified.

07:13 - Deputy Haman came across an abandoned vehicle on FM 141 at the Yegua Creek. A note was left on the window stating that the owner will be back to remove the vehicle.

08:41 - A resident on FM 141 requested to speak to a deputy about a missing social security check. Deputy J. Brown responded and spoke with the resident.

09:07 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to CR 430 for cows out. The caller stated he has taken a picture of the cows because they are out every day. The deputy was unable to locate the cows but spoke with the caller and collected the photo of the cows out. 

10:53 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver on Hwy 21 failing to maintain their lane and speed. Deputy J. Brown responded and was able to locate the vehicle on Hwy 21 at CR 114. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was given a citation for speeding.

12:47 - Deputy J. Hilmo and Sgt. Strouth were dispatched to CR 430 for cows out. The deputies witnessed the property owners working on the fence and did not see any cows out.

12:55 - A motorist reported a sand truck stalled out on Hwy 77 at CR 223. Deputy J. Brown responded but was unable to locate the truck. 

13:13 - VCS Security advised of a fire alarm at the Giddings High School. Giddings ISD contacted dispatch and informed them that it was a false alarm. VCS called back and was updated on the alarm.

13:18 - Deputy J. Hilmo and Sgt. Strouth were dispatched to CR 345 to meet with a complainant about an individual on the property they did not want there.  Deputies did not locate the individual there. The complainant was advised to contact JP 3 regarding the matter.

14:55 - Deputy J. Brown spoke with a complainant regarding an abandoned vehicle in Lincoln. The vehicle was on complainant's property, and they would like it moved. The complainant was given information for towing services in Giddings.

16:30 - A concerned neighbor stated that her neighbor refused EMS on Monday and not in good health. She advised that her neighbor is not answering the phone or the door. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the residence on CR 309 and made contact with the neighbor and subject.   

18:13 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 3403. Deputy Crenshaw located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

19:13 - Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw secured a cow out on CR 430 near CR 121.

20:45 - An Amazon delivery person advised that he was confronted by a male subject with a gun while delivering a package on Nursery Drive. The caller was advised to meet with deputies at CEFCO in Lexington. Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw responded and searched the area for the subject but were unable to locate him.

 

February 9, 2023

09:32 - A complainant advised that he was assaulted by his brother. Deputy J. Hilmo and Sgt. Strouth responded to the call on CR 453. The brother left the scene before deputies arrived. Information was taken for a report.

14:17 - Deputy J. Hilmo conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 290 West in front of the posse arena. The vehicle's paper tag was not legal. A PC was executed, and contraband was discovered. The female subject was brought to the jail and booked in on warrants.

15:23 - Life Alert reported a possible crash near the intersection of Hwy 21 and Hwy 77. The driver informed Deputy J. Brown that he had a tire blow out and his parents were on the way to help change the tire.

15:59 - A female subject came into the Sheriff's Office to speak to a deputy in reference to her landlord will not let them get any of their belongings out of the house. Deputy Haman conducted a civil standby while the tenants got their stuff out of the residence on CR 107. An information report was taken for the landlord.

18:50 - Sgt. Strouth responded to a call for a cow out on FM 3403 near the cemetery. The cow was located and secured off the roadway.

19:30 - Dispatch received a call stating that a few people stopped by the fire station in Lexington to report multiple cows out on FM 112 near the county line. Cpl. West and Deputy Rodriguez responded but were unable to locate the cows.

20:59 - A caller reported a brown horse out on FM 3403 near CR 442. Deputy Crenshaw responded and advised it is the same horse from earlier and secured it off the roadway. 

23:57 - Deputy Rodriguez advised of a cow out on CR 127 and FM 180. Deputy Rodriguez secured the cow off the roadway. 

 

February 10, 2023

07:01 - A caller reported a bull out on FM 141 near CR 116. Deputy E. Hilmo located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

09:24 - Deputy L. Brown requested assistance in locating a first grader who ran away from the Lexington Elementary School. Chief Garza, Sgt. Jones, Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Dickerson all responded to assist. Deputy L. Brown located the child in a tree. The child's brother arrived to help get his brother out of the tree.

12:00 - Giddings PD requested Deputy E. Hilmo for assistance on N. Leon St. for translation. The animal control officer needed to speak with a man about goats on his property. Giddings PD called back to cancel because the owner was not home.

12:30 - Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Dickerson responded to a call to report a bull out on FM 3403 between Hwy 77 and Hwy 21. The bull was located and secured off the roadway on PR 8035.

15:02 - A caller advised that she received a call from her sister letting her know that someone put three cows on her property on CR 127. She wants them removed from the property. Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Dickerson checked the property. There were no cows or livestock on the property.

21:40 - Deputy Dudley and Deputy Ellington responded to a call about a cow out on FM 180 between CR 127 and CR 128. Deputy Dudley advised that the calf ran off the roadway behind a residence on FM 180.

21:47 - Sgt. Holloway advised of a cow out on the roadway of CR 309. The cow was removed from roadway.

22:03 - Dispatch received a 911 call that pinged on CR 108. Dispatch made contact with the caller, and everything was good. 

 

February 11, 2023

01:08 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley, Deputy Ellington and Deputy Kocurek responded to a call regarding 10 head of cattle out on CR 226. Sgt. Holloway advised that the cattle were located near the 2600 block of CR 226 and were removed off the roadway.

01:46 - Sgt. Holloway conducted a traffic stop on N. Joekel and E. Washington. Deputy Kocurek, Deputy Dudley, and Deputy Ellington responded as back up. A field of sobriety test was conducted, and the female subject was arrested and booked into jail. Three subjects were given a courtesy ride by Deputy Ellington and Deputy Kocurek.

02:16 - Dispatch received a call about a loose cow on FM 141 near CR 116. Deputy Kocurek responded and secured the cow off the roadway.

06:59 - A complainant stated sometime the night before someone ran through a fence on CR 333 and took a Kaiser m-55 air compressor from a job site. Deputy Dickerson, Deputy Turner and Sgt. Jones met with the complainant and checked the area for any game cameras. Sgt. Jones made contact with the owner of the property on CR 333. The property owner called everyone in the area, but no one has a game camera. Information was taken for a report.

08:54 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding theft of service. The caller stated that he has been doing some repair work on CR 121 and has not been paid for the work he has done. Deputy Dickerson spoke with complainant over the phone and advised him to make a report.

12:23 - A resident on CR 404 reported that a female subject was outside banging on her door. The resident advised that she was scared and needs a deputy to come out. Sgt. Jones responded and will remain on a civil standby while the female subject gathers her belongings.

17:44 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Ellington, and Deputy Kocurek responded to a one vehicle accident on CR 308 near PR 3081. The driver missed the curve and went through a fence. No injuries were reported. Deputy Ellington made contact with the landowners and stated that there was a mutual agreement between the caller and the property owner to fix the property damage. The caller had their own wrecker coming to get vehicle unstuck from the property.

18:41 - Deputy Webber called in to report a reckless driver on a motorcycle traveling at high speeds going on Hwy 290 east bound towards Washington County. Washington County was notified with information and no units in the area to catch up to the driver.

21:11 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Ellington, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Kocurek all responded to a 911 call about a break in on Terrace Dr. The caller stated the male subject inside the residence was possibly her mother's ex. No weapons were on the premises, and they were standing outside away from the male subject. While on the phone with the caller, the subject left the scene in a Nissan SUV. Deputy Dudley caught up with the vehicle and made a felony stop when returns came back to possible male subject involved in the break in. All units arrived at the stop location on FM 112. The male subject was arrested and booked into jail. Tillary's took possession of the vehicle.

23:18 - Dispatch received a 911 from a male subject who stated he was assaulted by his ex-girlfriend and her friends. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Ellington responded to the residence on Blaha Ave in Dime Box. The female subjects left before units arrived and were unable to be found. Information was taken for report.

 

February 12, 2023

00:24 - Deputy Dudley, Deputy Ellington, and Sgt. Holloway came up on an 18-wheeler in the southbound lane of FM 141 at CR 117. Deputy Dudley spoke with the driver and stated he was lost. All units back in service.

02:28 - Deputy Ellington reported a motorist was on the side of Hwy 77 at Hwy 290. Deputy Ellington advised that the driver had a flat tire. The female subject had ID card only and was waiting on a licensed driver to come pick her up.

10:10 - A complainant stated that he was out walking his dog on Avenue G in Lexington when two Chihuahuas ran out and tried to attack him. The complainant advised that the owners never have the dogs on a leash and have been allowing them to run at large. He has complained to the city already but feels like nothing is being done about it. Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner met with the complainant. Information was taken and will be forwarded to Lexington PD. 

11:41 - Deputy Hilmo and Deputy Turner responded to a call about loose cattle on Hwy 77 near CR 411. The area was checked but no loose cattle were located. 

12:49 - A motorist reported a calf out on FM 696 East near the Yegua Creek bridge. Deputy Dickerson checked the area and was unable to locate the calf.

12:53 - Lee County EMS and Lincoln VFD were paged out for a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 21 at FM 1624. Deputy Dickerson, Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner assisted with traffic control. DPS Sgt. Weiser took the crash report. 

13:37 - Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner were dispatched to FM 3403 near the sand pits for loose cattle. The deputies checked the area but did not see any loose cattle.  

13:40 - Dispatch received two back-to-back 911 hang up calls from a female wanting police.  Yelling can be heard in the background. The location of the call was at the intersection of Old Nails Creek Rd and Seguin Street. Giddings PD was notified.    

15:15 - A complainant advised she wanted to speak with a deputy regarding some issues she has been having with her ex-boyfriend. The complainant stated she moved to Austin, and she has been trying to make arrangements to pick up the rest of her belongings from his residence. He has been sending her text messages telling her that he is going to burn all her clothes. She wants to make a report and possibly set up a civil standby. Deputy E. Hilmo contacted the complainant via phone and advised her to go through Austin PD to file a report. She was also advised that when she is ready to get her belongings, she is to contact this agency to set up a civil standby.

16:08 - Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Turner were dispatched to Edwards Avenue to meet with a caller. The caller stated that her storage was broken into, and everything was taken including clothes and furniture. Information was taken for a report.   

18:18 - A 911 caller reported a black cow out FM 696 near CR 407. Deputy Ellington checked the area but was unable to locate the cow.

21:47 - Giddings PD was notified of a 911 call about a fight in progress on San Antonio St. Deputy Dudley and Deputy Ellington assisted Giddings PD and EMS was requested.
