January 16 - January 22, 2023

 

January 16, 2023

07:05 - A caller reported cattle out near CR 118.  Deputy J. Brown secured the cattle back in their pasture off the roadway.  The owner was contacted by a passerby.

10:15 - A caller reported possible animal abuse in Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the owner of the dogs.  The owner was reminded of the leash law ordinance in the City of Lexington.

10:50 - A caller reported cattle out near CR 118. Deputy J. Brown and Deputy Haman responded.  The owner of the cattle arrived on scene and transported the cattle to a different property.

12:20 - A caller reported a loose dog near Third Street in Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth responded and made contact with the owner of the loose dog.  Information was passed on to Lexington PD. 

13:05 - A caller requested a welfare check on a male subject in a wheelchair on US 77 just south of the Milam County line.  Deputy Haman responded and made contact with the subject.  The subject was travelling to visit a friend and was off the roadway.

14:37 - A caller reported loose aggressive dogs on US 77 North in Lexington. Sgt. Strouth responded and located the owner's residence.  Sgt. Strouth was unable to make contact with the owner and left a business card.  The information was passed on to Lexington PD. 

14:44 - Deputy J. Brown conducted a traffic stop on US 290 near Orange Street in Giddings.  A male subject was arrested, transported, and booked into the Lee County Jail for Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.  The vehicle was released to the passenger.

16:30 - A caller reported having an issue with loose aggressive dogs on US 77 North in Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth made contact with the complainant, who was referred to the City of Lexington Police Chief for further enforcement.

16:54 - Sgt. Strouth conducted a traffic stop on US 77 near FM 3403.  The driver was arrested, transported, and booked into the Lee County Jail for reckless driving.  The motorcycle was towed.

17:05 - A caller reported cattle which did not belong to them were on their property off CR 430.  Deputy J. Brown responded and secured the cattle back into the neighboring pasture.  

18:18 - Multiple calls were reported of a two-vehicle crash on SH 21 at FM 1624.  All Lee County Deputies on duty, Lincoln VFD, and EMS responded.  One subject was transported by EMS.   

20:17 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding an ongoing civil matter.  Sgt. Young and Deputy Rodriguez spoke with the caller.

21:41 - A caller reported an unsafe controlled burn off US 290 West of Giddings. Cpl. West responded.  Cpl. West assessed the controlled burn and determined the subjects on scene had plenty of water standing by. 

 

January 17, 2023

03:38 - A caller reported a one vehicle crash on SH 21 East of Elm Creek RV park. Cpl. West, Sgt. Young, Deputy Rodriguez and EMS responded.  The driver refused treatment by EMS. 

06:10 -A call was received relaying information of a threat at the Lexington Independent School District. Law enforcement officials from Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lexington Police Department, and Precinct 3 Constable's Office met with Lexington ISD officials and the school was closed. Proactive measures were put in place regarding the threat until an investigation could be conducted. An investigation was conducted and the threat was found to be manifested by several middle school students. Charges have been filed against those involved in the threat.

08:00 - A caller off CR 430 reported cattle on his property which belonged to a neighbor were again on his property. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown responded.  The cattle were secured in pasture on CR 430.  The deputies made arrangements to meet with an estray cowboy to take possession of loose cattle that afternoon. 

08:47 - A caller reported being unable to get access to a residence to pick up their belongings on CR 326 near Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth met with the complainant at the Justice of the Peace, PCT 3 Office.

10:30 - A caller reported loose cattle on their property on CR 122.  Deputy Haman responded and will be meeting with an estray cowboy to take possession of loose cattle.

12:19 - A caller reported an unwanted subject who was previously issued a Criminal Trespass Warning was on the property at CR 430.  Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded and were unable to locate the unwanted subject. 

13:05 - While on patrol, Sgt. Strouth advised the cattle were loose again on CR 430.  The estray cowboy had previously been contacted and will be taking possession of the loose cattle as soon as possible.

13:59 - Sgt. Strouth was requested to investigate illegal dumping on CR 426.  The area was checked and no trash was located in the area.

14:58 - Sgt. Strouth was requested to investigate illegal dumping on CR 118.  Several bags of trash were located along with other items.  The investigation is on-going.

16:08 - A caller reported cattle out near the roadway on CR 430. Deputy J. Brown responded and moved cattle back into pasture.  The estray cowboy who was previously called will be taking possession of cattle. 

16:15 - A caller reported loose cattle on CR 200 near the Railroad tracks.  Deputy Haman responded and was unable to locate the loose cattle. 

17:35 - A caller reported an unwanted subject at a residence on Road B near Lexington.  Sgt. Young and Deputy Rodriguez responded and issued a Criminal Trespass Warning on the unwanted subject. 

18:14 - Deputy L. Brown requested EMS for a subject at the Lexington High School.  EMS was notified. 

21:54 - While on patrol, Cpl. West took information on loose cattle on a property on US 77 North.

 

January 18, 2023

00:02 - Cpl. West located an abandoned vehicle on CR 426 and CR 429.  The vehicle was found to be unoccupied and secured. 

04:03 - An alarm company called advising of an active burglar alarm on CR 234.  All Lee County Deputies on duty responded and checked the area.  All doors were found secured with no forced entry.

04:55 - A female subject entered the Lee County Sheriff's Office to turn herself in on two warrants issued by the Lexington Police Department.  Deputy Rodriguez responded, arrested, and booked the wanted subject into the Lee County Jail on the two warrants.

08:06 - Capt. Mastronardi, Sgt. Jones, Deputy Turner, Deputy E. Hilmo and Deputy Dickerson conducted warrant service on Boundary Street in Giddings. The wanted subject was taken into custody, transported, and booked into the Lee County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant. 

09:26 - A caller reported a stranded motorist blocking a lane of traffic on US 77 just south of CR 217.  Deputy Turner and Deputy E. Hilmo responded and provided traffic control until vehicle was no longer blocking the lane of traffic.

10:44 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy to obtain information on how to proceed with an on-going situation. The caller made contact with Deputy Dickerson via phone and was referred to Child Protective Services.

11:27 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy reporting a vehicle that was not returned to the owner on CR 330 in Lexington.  Deputy E. Hilmo spoke with the caller and advised the complainant it was a civil matter.  Then complainant resides in Travis County and will be contacting Travis County for the required paperwork on the civil matter. 

11:29 -A caller reported a reckless driver on US 290 eastbound entering Lee County.  Deputy Dickerson responded and checked the roadway.  The reckless driver was not located.

11:57 - A caller reported a stranded motorist on FM 696 in an unsafe area. Deputy Dickerson responded and checked the area.  The stranded motorist was gone upon arrival of the deputy.

13:13 - Sgt. Jones and Deputy E. Hilmo conducted a follow-up investigation on CR 226.

13:56 - While on patrol, Deputy Turner located a stranded motorist on US 290.  The vehicle was able to be pulled into a nearby truck stop and removed off the roadway.  The driver will be waiting for a family member to be picked up.

15:47 -A caller requested a welfare check on a female walking on FM 696 West near the Jackson Store, possibly being followed by a suspicious vehicle. Deputy Turner and a Game Warden responded.  Contact was made with the female and the driver of the reported suspicious vehicle.  The female and driver of the vehicle both returned to a residence on CR 309 without any further incident.

17:46 - A caller reported criminal mischief, damage to property, and an unwanted subject at a residence off FM 696 West.  The unwanted subject provided proof of being a tenant.  The complainant was advised it was a civil matter and was referred to Justice of the Peace, PCT 3.

18:00 - Two subjects entered the Lee County Sheriff's Office to provide updated information for the Sex Offender Registry.  Deputy Holloway met with both subjects and obtained the updated information.

18:38 - A caller reported being threatened with a firearm on Inge Street.  A report was taken by Deputy Dudley and the complainant was given a room for the night at a local hotel. The investigation is on-going.

 

January 19, 2023

08:43 - A call was received from Dime Box ISD regarding an unruly student. Deputies Dickerson, Crenshaw, and Turner responded.

10:08 -Deputy Webber located a stranded motorist on Main Street and Independence in Giddings blocking a lane of traffic.  Deputy Webber provided traffic control until Giddings PD arrived. 

12:10 - A caller reported an unwanted subject at a property on CR 430 with an active Criminal Trespass Warning on file.  Lieutenant Adams searched for the unwanted subject and was unable to locate.  It was later found that the unwanted subject was now in the Milam County Jail arrested on local Milam County charges. The investigation is ongoing with possible local Lee County charges to be filed.

13:05 - A subject entered the Lee County Sheriff's Office to file an affidavit for non-prosecution on an ongoing case.  The subject met with Lieutenant Adams.

14:30 - A caller reported a reckless driver traveling over 90 mph on US 290 entering Lee County.  Deputy Turner and Deputy Dickerson responded and searched the roadways.  The reckless driver was not located.

19:09 - A caller reported an assault at a residence on Inge Street.  Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley responded and met with complainant.  The complainant refused EMS.  A report was taken.  The investigation is ongoing. 

19:37 - A caller reported cattle near the roadway on US 77 north of Tanglewood.  Milam County deputies assisted in securing the cattle off the roadway on property off CR 417 while Lee County Deputies were on assault investigation. 

22:05 - A caller reported cattle out near the roadway on US 77 north of Tanglewood.  Sgt. Holloway responded and searched for the loose livestock.  The cattle were not located.  

23:49 - Sgt. Holloway completed a close patrol of a residence on CR 404.  The residence was secure. 

 

January 20, 2023

03:38 - A caller reported a cow in the roadway on US 290 near FM 180.  Deputy Dudley responded and a one vehicle crash involving the cow was located. Sgt. Holloway and the Giddings VFD responded to assist.  The debris from the crash was removed from the roadway by Giddings VFD.  The driver was given a courtesy ride to CEFCO to wait to be picked up.  The vehicle was towed.

08:14 - A 911 hang-up call was received from a residence off CR 133.  Lee County Dispatch attempted and was unable to make contact with the caller.  Sgt. Strouth responded to the location and made contact with a subject at the residence who stated all was okay, that it was an accidental 911 call.

09:29 - Deputy J. Brown and Deputy Crenshaw located a subject on CR 306 who was absent from school.  The subject was returned to the private school.  

10:05 - A 911 call was received reporting a Truck Tractor Semi-Trail which had lost a load of gravel on US 77 South in the southbound lane.  Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded.  The spilled load was inside Fayette County. Deputies stood by until law enforcement from Fayette County could respond. TXDOT was notified.  

10:07 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding an animal complaint in Lexington.  The complainant was referred to the Lexington Police Department.  

10:08 - The Lee County Clerk's office requested a deputy pick up warrants from their office. Deputy J. Brown and Deputy Crenshaw retrieved the warrants as requested.

10:40 - Deputy Brown and Deputy Crenshaw assisted Giddings PD in attempting to locate suspects who had stolen items from a business on US 290 in Giddings.  The suspect was located, arrested, and transported to the Lee County Jail for theft. 

13:15 - A 911 call was received from a residence on FM 141. Deputy Haman responded and conducted a welfare check on the owner of the residence.  The subject was okay.

13:45 - A subject entered the Lee County Sheriff's Department requesting to speak with a deputy regarding theft of service.  Sgt. Strouth met with the complainant and took a report.  The investigation is ongoing.

15:45 A 911 call was received of a Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer losing a partial load on US 77 just south of SH 21.  Deputy Haman and Deputy Webber responded.  The roadway was clear, TXDOT was notified to remove concrete mix from the side of the roadway. 

19:11 - A caller requested a welfare check on a subject on US 77 North. Cpl. West responded. The person on whom the welfare check was requested was not at the residence.

22:26 - Sgt. Young assisted EMS at a residence off SH 21. EMS transported the subject to the hospital.

23:36 - A caller reported a reckless driver traveling the wrong way on US 290 near the county line.  Sgt. Young responded and searched for the reckless driver.  The reckless driver was not located.

 

January 21, 2023

03:10 - While on patrol, Sgt. Young located a subject who appeared to be unconscious in a vehicle on Fourth Street at Rockdale Street in Lexington.  Upon making contact with the subject, it was determined all was okay.

05:11 - Sgt. Young and Deputy Rodriguez checked the welfare of a possible stranded motorist US 290 near CR 203.  The driver had pulled over to retrieve an item from the vehicle.  

08:20 - A caller reported cattle near the roadway on FM 189 near CR 127, Deputy J. Brown responded and secured the cattle off the roadway.

11:45 - Deputy Haman located a possible stranded motorist on the side of the roadway on SH 21 near FM 3403.  Deputy Haman made contact with the driver who had pulled over to use a cell phone.

12:15 - A caller requested deputies for a civil standby on CR 326.  Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman, and Reserve Deputy Terpstra responded and met with the caller. 

12:22 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding property damage at a residence on FM 696 West. Deputy Brown made contact with the caller via phone and took information.  Deputy to follow-up with caller to retrieve additional information on damaged property at a later time.

13:05 - A subject came into the Lee County Sheriff's Office for jail visitation.  The subject was found to have an active warrant out of Austin.  Deputy J. Brown arrested and booked the subject into the Lee County Jail on the active warrant.

13:43 - A 911 call was received reporting a two-vehicle crash on Caldwell Street and Rockdale Street in Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman, and Reserve Deputy Terpstra responded.  Both vehicles were towed.  No injuries were reported.

14:05 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding an open investigation that was previously reported.  Sgt. Strouth made contact with the caller via phone and took additional information.

16:48  - A call was received from a complainant off CR 304 who wished to speak with a deputy. Sgt. Strouth responded and attempted to make contact with the complainant but was unable to make contact with her.

17:15 - A 911 call was transferred from Fayette County reporting a reckless driver travelling westbound on US 290 into Lee County.  Deputy Brown and Reserve Deputy Terpstra stopped the vehicle inside of the Giddings City Limits and made contact with the driver.  

19:24 - A call was received from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office reporting a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound lane of US 290 near Ledbetter.  Sgt. Young responded and searched for the vehicle.  The vehicle was not located.

21:49 - A caller reported a vehicle stopped in the roadway on US 77 just south of Tanglewood.  Sgt. Young located the stranded motorist.  The vehicle was moved and secured off of the roadway.  The owner of the vehicle will make arrangements to retrieve vehicle at a later time.

22:10 - A caller requested to speak with a Deputy regarding a possible assault off CR 304. Sgt. Young responded and made contact with the complainant.  It was determined no assault had occurred.

 

January 22, 2023

01:26 - A caller reported falling at a residence on CR 304 and could not get up.  Cpl. West and EMS responded.  The caller refused treatment from EMS.  

02:41 - A caller reported two unwanted subjected at a residence on SH 21.  Sgt. Young and Cpl. West responded.  Both unwanted subjects left the residence upon the deputies arrival without any incident. 

08:20 - A caller reported cattle on the roadway on CR 130. Sgt. Strouth responded.  The owner of the cattle were located with the cattle being secured in a pasture. 

09:45 - Deputy J. Brown located a vehicle parked at the Justice of the Peace, PCT 3 building which was parked there for sale.  The owner was located and advised that vehicle could not be left on County property for the purposes of selling.

10:12 - Deputy J. Brown completed a close patrol of a residence in Lincoln. A subject was located and identified on the property.  All was okay and property was secure.

11:40 - A caller reported cattle near the roadway on FM 696 West near Sherrill Lane.  Deputy J. Brown responded and searched area.  The cattle were not located.

12:00 - A caller reported a possible assault occurring at a residence on CR 304.  Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and took information.  The investigation is on-going.

12:05 - A caller reported injury to a dog on CR B near Blue. Deputy J. Brown responded.  Deputy Brown assisted the caller in making arrangements to take the dog to a veterinarian to be examined.  

12:23 - A 911 call was received from Clark Lane requesting EMS for an unresponsive subject.  Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman, and EMS responded.  Subject was pronounced deceased by Judge York.  Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home responded. 

12:40 - A caller requested to speak with a deputy regarding the previously reported crash on Caldwell Street and Rockdale Street in Lexington.  Sgt. Strouth made contact with caller via phone to answer additional questions from the crash report.

14:34 - A caller requested close patrol of residence off FM 141 due to suspicious activity.  Deputy J. Brown responded and took information to set up a close patrol of residence. 

17:30 - A subject entered the Lee County Sheriff's Office to discuss an on-going situation.  Sgt. Strouth met with the subject at the Lee County Sheriff's Office.  It was determined that the situation was a civil matter.  Sgt. Strouth documented the information to retain on file. 

18:18 - A caller reported a bull missing from CR 430.  The bull was last seen approximately a week ago.  Sgt. Young made contact with the owner of the cattle via phone regarding the missing cattle.

18:31 - Multiple calls were received of cattle near the roadway on FM 696 West near CR 305.  Cpl. West responded.

19:54 - A caller reported a noise disturbance near the car wash in Lexington.  Sgt. Young responded and checked area.  No loud noise was located.
