On June 21, 2022, an inmate at the Lee County Sheriff's Office reported to Corrections staff of being sexually assaulted by another inmate. An investigation was immediately opened into the allegation and as a result criminal charges have been filed against Arthur Allen. When the criminal investigation began, a parallel internal investigation was initiated. These investigations are currently ongoing. The policies and procedures in the Lee County Jail are currently under review to ensure this type of activity does not occur at any time in the future.
