Four Arrested in Burglary

On Thursday, December 20, 2018, at approximately 09:10 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to suspicious activity at a residence located in the 7500 block of FM 141. The witness stated he saw individuals carrying property from the residence and when the individuals noticed the witness watching the dropped the items and fled the scene in a white Dodge Charger. Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy David Jessup observed the Charger traveling south on FM 141 towards Giddings. When Deputy Jessup attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over and led the Deputy on a small pursuit. The driver of the Charger pulled over on FM 141 at CR 116 and four of the suspects were taken into custody. The fifth suspect fled on foot. With the assistance of the Giddings Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, The Texas Department of Public Safety Helicopter, and a Fayette County Canine Unit, an exhaustive search was conducted for the fifth suspect which was unsuccessful. The fifth suspect is described as a black male, late 20’s to early 30’s wearing camouflage. When Deputies returned to the residence, it was discovered the five suspects were in the process of burglarizing the home when the witness spooked them. Approximately $2,000 in stolen items were recovered from the Charger. The suspects ransacked the home and caused damage to the interior. At this time, we do not have a monetary estimate on the damages to the home.

The four suspects arrested are:

T. JOHNSON

Terrance Johnson, 25, of Houston

S. JOHNSON

Shane Johnson, 29, of Katy

D. BOONE

Darris Boone, 27, of Richmond

K. SHEPARD

Kurt Shepard, 36, of Dime Box

Anyone with information in reference to the 5th suspect is urged to contact Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-930-TIPS. If this information leads to the arrest of the suspect you could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.

The investigation is on-going, and as there is no honor among thieves, we expect to discover the identity of the 5th suspect and make an arrest.
