May 8 - May 14, 2023

 

 May 8, 2023

01:23 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD with a hit for a driver being wanted out of Washington County. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Hwy 290 from Burton. The vehicle could not be located.

02:04 - A caller reported a herd of white cattle out on Hwy 21 East at FM 3403. Sgt. Holloway responded to the call and located the cattle. The deputy advised that there was a hole in the fence, and he temporarily patched it up. The cattle were secured off the roadway.

07:07 - Deputy L. Brown was dispatched to Hwy 21 near FM 3403 for a cow out. The area was checked but no loose livestock was located.

08:28 - Brinks Home Security advised of an alarm at a residence off US 77. Deputy L. Brown responded and advised everything was secure.

08:56 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised he was out with an individual walking on FM 696. The individual was identified and give a courtesy ride to an address on FM 696 East.

08:57 - A resident on CR 327 East stated he found a dog in the middle of the road by his house. He advised he attempted to take it to the Giddings Animal Shelter, but they turned him away and told him to contact the Sheriff's Office. Deputy L. Brown met with the resident and was able to get the dog to another shelter.

10:41 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised he was out at Town and Country Mobile Home Park for a case follow up.

11:43 - A motorist reported a reckless 18-wheeler traveling westbound on Hwy 21 from Burleson County. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and checked the area but was unable to locate the 18-wheeler.

13:13 - Dispatch received a call about cattle on property located near Dime Box that should not be there. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and moved the cattle to the correct property.

15:42 - Deputy L. Brown was dispatched to CR 306 to meet with a complainant about her dog missing. The complainant believed that her dog was on the neighbor's property and wanted assistance with getting it back. Contact was made with the neighbor who gave permission for the deputy to search the property. No report at this time.

16:48 - A resident on County Road 306 requested to speak with a deputy about her neighbor harassing her. Sgt. West spoke with the resident and the neighbor, and they were advised to not communicate with each other. No report at this time.

17:07 - A caller from Hwy 77 North stated she took in a stray dog a couple of days ago, and the dog attacked her dogs and her neighbor's dogs. She currently has it pinned up and requested to speak with a deputy about her options. Sgt. West made contact via phone and advised her of her options.

20:18 - Dispatch received an open 911 call from an address on South Navarro for a possible disturbance. The call was transferred to Giddings Police Department. Deputy Haman responded to the call to assist and gave a female subject a courtesy ride to an address in Dime Box.

21:33 - Deputy J. Brown checked out with a vehicle on the side of the road on Hwy 77 North near Lexington. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure. The driver later advised Deputy J. Brown that the vehicle was broken down, and they were waiting on someone to pick them up.

21:47 - Deputy Haman checked out with a vehicle on Hwy 21 East just west of Bubba's Truck Stop. The driver advised that the vehicle was disable and was waiting on a family member to pick her up. The driver was also able to get BDS to tow the vehicle for her.

21:48 - Dispatch was notified by Deputy J. Brown that he was out with two vehicles in the parking lot of Zochnet in Lincoln. The drivers advised they were just exchanging items.

22:58 - A motorist reported a suspicious male walking on FM 2440 towards Giddings. Deputy J. Brown responded and located the subject. He was identified and advised the deputy he was just going for a walk.

 

May 9, 2023

05:26 - Dispatch received a call about a brown cow in the roadway on Hwy 77 just south of Lexington. Deputy Haman located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

08:05 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a vehicle in the 1100 block of CR 102. Contact was made with the driver who advised they were waiting for the job site to open.

08:19 - A caller reported a cow out on FM 1624 near the Fedor VFD. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and removed the cow from the roadway. The property owner was notified.

10:06 - A resident on CR 430 stated that someone is messing with his TV signals and requested to speak with a deputy. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and met with the resident.

11:45 - Deputy J. Hilmo with the assistance of Sgt. Strouth spoke with a complainant in reference to a theft. The complainant was advised it was a civil issue.

11:51 - A motorist reported cows out on FM 1624 near the Fedor VFD. Deputy L. Brown responded and located the cows. They were removed from the roadway.

14:50 - Deputy J. Hilmo was out with a disabled vehicle at the 3000 block of Hwy 77 North. The driver advised they were just changing a tire.

18:27 - Fayette County advised that one of their deputies was in pursuit of a vehicle on Hwy 290 East traveling westbound. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown responded to the call along with Giddings PD. The vehicle was stopped in front of Specs in Giddings, and the driver was arrested. The driver was transported to the Fayette County Jail by their deputy.

19:34 - Deputy J. Brown advised he was out with a vehicle near the 6100 block of Hwy 77 North. The vehicle was partially blocking the roadway. The driver advised they were changing a flat tire on the trailer. Tire was changed, and the vehicle was back on the road.

19:41 - A caller reported about twelve goats out near the 6800 block of FM 1624. Sgt. Strouth checked the area but did not locate any loose livestock.

21:03 - A property owner on CR 433 called to ask when a cowboy was coming to his property to pick up a bull from a previous call. He was advised the information would be passed on to dayshift to contact a cowboy.

 

May 10, 2023

00:01 - Deputy Haman checked out at Walch Store with a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure. The store was also checked and found to be secure.

04:42 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 290 East traveling westbound coming into the county. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown checked to CR 133 and were unable to locate the vehicle. Giddings PD units assisted and were also unable to locate the vehicle.

10:40 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out at an address near Dime Box for a case follow up.

11:01 - A resident on CR 123 reported that a female subject has called him over 20 times. Deputy L. Brown responded to the call and advised the resident to text the subject to stop calling him. If she continues to harass the resident, a report will be taken. The deputy also tried contacting the female subject, but no one answered and a voicemail was left.

12:37 - A male subject came to the Sheriff's Office to turn himself on an outstanding warrant. Sgt. Ray booked the subject into the Lee County Jail.

12:48 - Sgt. Jones advised he was out at an address on CR B in Lexington for a case follow up.

17:24 - A motorist reported that she was rear-ended by another motorist on Hwy 21 at CR 107. Both vehicles pulled over, and there were no injuries reported. Cpl. Ellington responded and took a crash report.

18:10 - A 911 caller advised that a white Dodge Challenger passed him on Hwy 77 at a high rate of speed. The caller waited until he got home to call 911. He believed that the driver and vehicle are from Lincoln. Deputy Dickerson checked the area of the registered address but did not see the vehicle.

22:21 - Sgt. Holloway spoke with a complainant on CR 450 in reference to an Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The caller stated that her significant other took her car without her permission. Sgt. Holloway gathered information for a report but the complainant called back and stated that the subject brought back the vehicle. She advised she was staying with family for the night. She also requested a civil standby the next evening so she can gather her belongings.

 

May 11, 2023

08:42 - A caller advised that someone took out about 125 feet of fence line located in the 2100 block of CR 217. The caller already made contact with the property owner who lives out of state and advised they want to make a report. Cpl. Ellington met with the caller, and information was taken for a report.

09:35 - A motorist reported a black Chevrolet truck driving recklessly on FM 696 West traveling eastbound into the Blue area. The vehicle was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. Deputy L. Brown responded and located the vehicle, but it was parked at a residence.

10:07 - Deputy L. Brown advised he was with a vehicle on the side of the road on FM 696 at PR 7007. The vehicle was unoccupied with hazard lights on.

11:38 - Cpl. Ellington, Deputy Webber and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD with a warrant service at a residence on South Johnson Avenue. Two subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail.

11:42 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver on Hwy 21 West traveling eastbound. The vehicle was described as a white Toyota SUV failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and traveling at a high rate of speed. The call was transferred to Burleson County since no available units were in the area.

12:25 - A complainant came to the Sheriff's Office to report fraud that occurred with his business on Hwy 290. Capt. Mastronardi met with the complainant and a report was taken.

14:59 - Cpl. Ellington met with a resident from Hwy 21 in Lincoln at the Sheriff's Office in regard to eviction notices she was receiving from her landlord. Information was provided to the deputy, but the problem was a civil matter.

15:25 - A property owner on Hwy 290 East advised that someone cut the fence and stole a skid steer from the property. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and met with the workers. Information was taken for a report.

17:35 - Capt. Mastronardi received a call about a brown truck parked on CR 304 near FM 696 West. Deputy L. Brown was dispatched and located the vehicle. Everything was okay.

18:50 - A caller requested a civil standby at an address on CR 450. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley conducted the standby without incident.

22:04 - Sgt. Holloway conducted a security check at Bubba's Truck Stop in Dime Box. Everything was secure, and no signs of suspicious activity.

22:23 - A resident on CR 135 advised that there was a male subject walking around the front of her property with a flashlight. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dickerson, and Deputy Dudley responded and located the subject. He was identified and advised he was doing a land survey.

 

May 12, 2023

01:03 - Dispatch received a call about a cow out on CR 122 near FM 141. Deputy Dudley responded to the call and advised that the cow ran off into a wooded area near the 1000 block of CR 122.

03:00 - Sgt. Holloway assisted Giddings PD with a traffic stop in the 1100 block of East Austin Street. The traffic stop was conducted without incident.

05:12 - Dispatch received a call transfer from Montgomery County from a complainant who advised he saw three unknown subjects on his property on CR 127 on his security cameras. The caller also advised that the subjects had broken into a house on the property. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley and Deputy Dickerson responded to the call. Sgt. Holloway was first on scene and waited for further assistance. Deputy J. Hilmo arrived on scene, and the deputies approached a gate where a vehicle was parked. The suspects fled the scene in the vehicle and were pursued by Deputy J. Hilmo until the vehicle wrecked out at the 4900 block of CR 127. At this time, one suspect was taken into custody, and the other two fled on foot.  Dispatch received multiple calls about a suspicious person walking down FM 180 trying to flag a vehicle down. Deputy Dickerson made contact with the subject, who was identified as one of the suspects involved in the burglary. The suspect was taken into custody. The third and final suspect was later located on FM 1697 and taken into custody. At 10:28, all suspects were apprehended and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.  

09:30 - A resident on CR 116 reported a Volkswagen sedan parked blocking the gate entrance to his property. Deputy J. Hilmo was enroute when the resident advised to cancel the deputy because he knew who the vehicle belonged to.

12:02 - Deputy Webber assisted Giddings PD with a two-vehicle accident on East Austin Street near the Post Office.

18:29 - A caller reported that his daughter was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 290 just west of Westwood Lane. Both drivers were out of the vehicles, and no injuries were reported. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded and took information for a report.

18:34 - Dispatch received multiple 911 calls in reference to an active disturbance at Rolling Oaks Apartments. The parties involved were a male subject and a female subject. Callers also advised that a handgun was seen. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown assisted Giddings PD with the call.

18:38 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to an address on CR 117 after the disturbance call for a 911 hang up call. Contact was made with an individual who advised his son had his phone and accidentally called 911.

21:04 - Texas Parks and Wildlife requested a close patrol of the Nails Creek State Park due to not having any rangers on for the night. All county units were notified, and close patrols were done throughout the night without incidents.

 

May 13, 2023

00:12 - A complainant on CR 312 requested to speak with a deputy in reference to a civil matter between him and his cousin. Deputy J. Brown spoke with the complainant and advised him of what he can do. The complainant also requested a Criminal Trespass Warning be issued.

02:29 - Sgt. Strouth checked out at the Lincoln VFD with a motorcycle parked on the side of the roadway without a license plate. The VIN was run, and a license plate number was found. The motorcycle was off the roadway.

03:03 - Dispatch was advised by Sgt. Strouth he was out on Shaw Street in Lexington with a vehicle parked partially in the roadway. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure. Sgt. Strouth then advised of a large fire in the backyard of a residence on Hester Street. Contact was made with the owner who advised he would put out the fire.

03:06 - Deputy J. Brown checked out at the Dollar General in Lexington for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied and secure.

05:52 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from an address on CR 213. Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo responded and found no one on the premises. Everything was secure.

06:25 - Deputy J. Brown advised Dispatch that a good amount of water was over the roadway on CR 114 near PR 1141. Pct. 1 Commissioner was notified.

07:55 - Pct. 1 Commissioner reported illegal dumping of tires on CR 117 by the railroad tracks. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and advised that a total of 18 tires were in the ditch. Information was taken for a report.

08:16 - A motorist reported a one vehicle accident on Hwy 290 in Ledbetter. No injuries were reported. Sgt. West responded and advised that the accident occurred in Fayette County. Information was passed on to their dispatch.

08:47 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised of flooding on different parts of CR 117. Pct. 1 Commissioner was notified and was aware of the flooding already.

09:53 - A caller advised that her daughter had been in an accident on Hwy 21 near FM 2440. Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the accident. No injuries were report, and the driver had their own tow truck on the way. The landowner was also advised of the damage to the property. A crash report was taken.

10:33 - Deputy J. Hilmo was dispatched to FM 448 near the first railroad crossing for a one vehicle accident. The driver stated that she had slid off the road into a fence. The property owner was notified of the damage to the fence. Govan's took possession of the vehicle at the request of the driver. A crash report was taken.

10:34 - Sgt. West reported flooding on areas of CR 233 and CR 230. Pct. 2 Commissioner was notified.

11:05 - Dispatch received multiple calls about a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 21 near CR 426. Sgt. West, Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy Eickenhorst responded to the accident along with Dime Box VFD and EMS. BDS took possession of the U-Haul truck, and B&M took possession of the other vehicle. A crash report was taken.

14:09 - Deputy J. Hilmo was dispatched to FM 141 near CR 428 for goats out on the roadway. The area was checked but no loose livestock was located.

15:40 - A motorist reported a black cow in the ditch on Hwy 77 at CR 217. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and advised the owner was on scene upon his arrival. The cow was secured off the roadway.

17:13 - Sgt. West, Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy Eickenhorst were dispatched to an address on Main Avenue in Lincoln to meet with a complainant. The complainant stated that some people did work for her and are now trying to steal a motorcycle for payment of the services. Two subjects were found in the residence that should not have been there. The deputies were then advised that the complainant hired the subjects to do work for her and stay at the residence while they complete the work. The complainant was refusing to pay them for their services. All parties involved were advised it was a civil matter and to contact the JP.

17:40 - Dispatch received a call about a small black calf near the road on FM141 near CR119. Deputy J. Brown responded and checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

19:46 - Sgt. Strouth checked out at Rolling Oaks Apartments for a follow up but no contact could be made.

21:30 - A security company requested a deputy at an address on CR 314 for vehicles driving at a high rate of speed past the water treatment plant. Deputy Haman responded and stayed in the area for approximately 20 minutes. The deputy did not see any vehicles drive by except for the security company.

22:14 - A resident on CR 323 advised that there was a vehicle parked in his driveway. He also stated someone knocked on his door, but he did not want to answer it. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown located the vehicle and made contact with the occupants. They advised the vehicle was disabled. The vehicle was moved off the roadway, and the occupants were given courtesy ride to Lexington.

 

May 14, 2023

02:00 - Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown advised they were out with a vehicle that was parked blacked out on CR 314 at CR314A. The driver was identified as a plant worker who was taking a nap in his vehicle.

03:18 - A motorist reported a person on the side of the roadway next to a vehicle flashing a light at passing cars on Hwy 290 West near CR 202. Deputy Haman checked the area from the Bastrop County line back to Giddings and did not locate any vehicles or persons.

03:49 - Dispatch received a call about a cow out on FM 1697 near FM 180. The caller also advised of a tree branch partially over the roadway. Sgt. Strouth responded and located the cow. The cow was secured off the roadway. TxDOT was notified about the tree branch.

04:51 - Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown were dispatched to FM 141 at a low water crossing to assist a motorist. A semi-truck driver requested assistance with backing up and finding another route due to the high water. The deputies were able to get the truck turned around and on a different route. Dispatch was also advised that the roadway was still impassable.

06:09 - A caller advised that he heard what appeared to have been an accident at the intersection of FM 2440 and CR 113. Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo responded and found a damaged telephone pole and a line blocking CR 113. The vehicle had left the scene of the accident. Bluebonnet was notified and took care of the line. A report was taken. At 09:27, the caller called back and advised that the vehicle that possibly hit the telephone pole was at 7-Eleven in Giddings. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and took the driver's information for the report.

11:48 - Dispatch received multiple 911 hang up calls from an address on Turner Lane. Sgt. West responded and made contact with a female subject that stated she wanted to file charges against a male subject. After gathering information, it was determined that it was a civil matter.

12:10 - A motorist called 911 from the 5100 block of Hwy 21. She stated that she had a flat on her camper and her spare was flat as well. Trooper Pennartz assisted the motorist with getting the tire off the camper. The camper would remain on the side of the road while the motorist gets the tire fixed and put back on.

13:26 - Sgt. West advised he was out at an address on FM 696 West for a case follow up. Information was taken for the report.

13:31 - Deputy J. Hilmo was out at an address on Hale Street in Lexington for a case follow up. Information was taken for the report.

14:04 - Dispatch received a call about goats out on FM 141 and CR 428. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and secured the goats off the roadway. The owner's information was provided for future calls.  

18:10 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to CR 114 for a 911 hang up call. Contact was made and everything was okay.

18:14 - Deputy Haman advised that multiple vehicles were parked alongside of the roadway on CR 125. A gathering was taking place, and everything was okay.

19:52 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 290 East passing the county line. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded and located the vehicle. The deputies followed the vehicle to the Bastrop County line and observed no traffic offenses.

21:56 - Sgt. Strouth advised he was out at an address on CR 314 for a case follow up. Information was taken for the report.

22:26 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from a residence on CR 305. Sgt. Strouth responded and made contact with the homeowner. They advised they were having issues with their landline and would call via cell phone if there was an emergency.

23:04 - An alarm company requested a welfare check at the Lexington Food Mart because the alarm was not activated at closing. Sgt. Strouth checked the building and area. Everything was secure.

23:05 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a vehicle on the side of the roadway on FM 696 West near the Bastrop County line. The driver advised the vehicle was disabled and was waiting on someone to come fix it.
