March 27 - April 2, 2023

 

March 27, 2023

00:30 - A security company advised of a commercial burglary alarm at the Dollar General in Lexington. Sgt. Holloway responded and cleared the area. There were no signs of any suspicious activity.

02:59 - EMS advised of several head of cattle loose on FM 696 West near CR 337. Sgt. Holloway checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

04:20 - Sgt. Holloway and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to a call about ten or more head of cattle out on FM 696 West near CR 337. Dispatch attempted to make contact with a cowboy but no contact was made. The cattle were pinned up on someone's property until a cowboy could come by and take them to a sale barn.

06:23 - Sgt. Strouth conducted a traffic stop at Rockdale Street and Sixth Street in Lexington. A search was conducted, and contraband was found. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking. Govan's took possession of the vehicle. A report was taken.

10:29 - Phillips and Luckey requested deputies to assist with an escort at Rockdale Street and Third Street in Lexington. Deputy Haman and Deputy Brown assisted with the escort.

11:16 - Deputy Haman checked out with loose livestock on CR 316. The livestock was removed and secured off the roadway.

11:52 - A property owner on CR 117 reported that he had a bull pinned up on his property that does not belong to him. He requested to speak to a deputy about what can be done. Sgt. Strouth met with the property owner, and an owner for the bull was found.

12:12 - A caller reported a young black cow out on CR 117 just west of FM 141. Capt. Allen located the cow and removed it from the roadway.

12:36 - Dispatch received a call about a white Charolais bull out on FM 696 East near CR 401. Deputy Haman checked the area but did not locate any loose livestock.

14:40 - City of Lexington advised that one of their employees was bitten by a dog at an address on Hwy 77 North. The owner of the dog confirmed that the dog did not have rabies vaccination. Sgt. Strouth responded to the call. While the deputy was at the city hall, he was informed of another city employee being bit by a dog on Hale Street. Reports were taken for both dog bites.

15:07 - Deputy Haman checked out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 21 near Bubba's Truck Stop. The deputy assisted with traffic control while Govan's assisted with the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired and back on the road.

16:42 - Dispatch was advised by Deputy Haman that she would be out on CR 424 and CR 426 looking for a missing bull. The area was checked but the deputy could not locate the bull.

18:08 - Sgt. Strouth checked out at the 1400 block of Hwy 21 East with tire debris in the roadway. The roadway was cleared.

18:19 - A caller reported several horses on her property on CR 307 that do not belong to her. Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded and located the owner of the horses. Arrangements were made to get the horses off the caller's property.

20:10 - A motorist advised of a black cow out on FM 180 near CR 130. Deputy Crenshaw located the cow and secured it off the roadway.

21:47 - Game Warden Moreno advised he received a call about a fully automatic gun being fired in the area of FM 696 East and PR 7004. Game Warden Moreno, Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw checked the area but were not able to hear any shots being fired.

22:20 - Giddings PD requested assistance at an address on West Hempstead Street for an assault. Deputy J. Hilmo assisted with the call. A subject left the residence on foot but was located. One patient was transported by EMS.

23:17 - Bastrop County requested assistance to a shots fired call at an address Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Elgin. Two subjects were shot with one receiving CPR. Cpl. West, Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy J. Hilmo and Game Warden Moreno responded to the scene. The suspect left the scene, and units stayed in the area to assist Elgin PD in the attempt to locate the suspect. The suspect vehicle was later located by Travis County in Manor. Lee County units cleared the scene around 01:20.

 

March 28, 2023

09:07 - An oil and gas company reported that someone messed with some valves and caused a small spill as well as some damage to the fence at a unit located off FM 448. Sgt. Strouth responded, and information was taken for a report.

09:35 - A complainant requested to speak with a deputy about his bulldozer. He took it to a shop located on Hwy 290 East for repairs, and every time he tries to get it back, he keeps getting the run around. Deputy J. Brown spoke with the complainant, and information was taken.

10:14 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to the area of FM 112 and FM 696 for loose horses. The caller stated that they were eating grass, but he did not see a fence or that the horses were tied up. The deputy searched the area but did not locate any horses.

14:55 - A resident on CR 329 wanted to inform the Sheriff's Office that the gravel scam is back in the area. He advised that the scammers are going door to door acting like they have extra gravel and then send you a bill. Information was taken.

17:40 - Deputy J. Brown responded to a call about an animal complaint on North Rockdale Street in Lexington. The caller stated there was a stray German Shepherd in his yard that the neighbor said has been killing cats. The caller was afraid to take their small dog out with the stray dog in the yard. The deputy advised that the dog did not show any signs of aggression. Pictures will be provided to the animal shelter to post to find a possible owner.

18:18 - Dispatch received a call from a complainant about two dogs in the area of the 800 block of Fourth Street in Lexington. She stated that one was aggressive and the other was tied up. Cpl. West spoke with the complainant, and she was advised Lexington PD is aware of the problem with the dogs. Chief Garza also advised she would follow up on the situation.

18:21 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 77 traveling south bound passing FM 3403. Sgt. Strouth checked the area to Hwy 21 and was unable to locate the vehicle. Giddings PD checked within the city limits but were also unable to locate the vehicle.

19:45 - Cpl. West was dispatched to Town and County Mobile Home Park for a suspicious vehicle. The resident stated that a vehicle parked in her driveway and should not be there. The owner of the vehicle was located, and the vehicle was moved. They were advised to not park there again.

 

March 29, 2023

07:47 - A caller requested a welfare check on a male subject pulled over on the side of the road on FM 141 near Bubba's Truck Stop. Sgt. Jones located the vehicle and made contact with the subject. The subject had blood on his forehead and hands. He advised that he fell last night. The subject was given a courtesy ride to an address on FM 141, where he was left with a responsible party.

13:31 - Deputy Ellington, Deputy Eickenhorst and Lexington Officer Reyna met with a complainant at Cefco about being accused of theft. The complainant stated that a woman convinced him to sell two transmissions that belonged to her boyfriend. Now that the boyfriend found out, he is accusing him of stealing and selling the transmissions. The complainant also stated that the woman gave him the transmissions for scrap, but the boyfriend is claiming that they are his. No report can be filed until the owner makes a claim.

16:14 - Dispatch received a call about a cow out on Hwy 290 near CR 234. Deputy Dickerson checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock. A second caller advised of the same cow out. Deputy Dickerson returned to the area and was able to locate the cow. It was removed and secured off the roadway.

17:57 - A motorist reported a cow out on PR 1802. Deputy Dudley checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

18:17 - Deputy Kocurek assisted Trooper Pennartz with a traffic stop on West Austin Street at the 290 Travel Plaza.

18:39 - A caller advised that a light color Ford F-250 was parked on Hwy 290 near CR 138. The caller stated that he thought the driver was either sleeping or passed out in the truck. Deputy Kocurek and Deputy E. Hilmo checked the area but did not locate the vehicle.

20:04 - Sgt. Holloway was dispatched to Town and Country Mobile Home Park for an animal complaint. The complainant stated that her dog was attacked possibly by a neighbor's loose dog. The deputy met with the complainant, and information was taken. No report at this time.

20:21 - Giddings PD advised of a reckless driver on Hwy 77 S. The vehicle was a white or silver truck pulling a trailer with no lights. Deputy Dudley attempted to locate the vehicle but was unable to do so.

20:35 - A resident on CR 133 reported that someone possibly used his credit card information for fraudulent activity. Deputy Kocurek spoke with the resident and took information for a report.

20:51 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out with a suspicious vehicle on Hwy 21 near CR 426. Everything was fine after further investigation.

 

March 30, 2023

01:08 - A motorist reported cows out on FM 696 East near CR 401. Sgt. Holloway located the cows and secured them off the roadway.

08:54 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to a residence on FM 141 for mailbox damage. After speaking with the complainant and the company owner, it was determined they will handle the matter amongst themselves.

09:56 - A male subject was given a courtesy ride from Giddings to his residence in Ledbetter by Deputy Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst.

10:15 - Deputy Dickerson conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 77 at CR 417. The driver was taken into custody for an active warrant and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking. Deputy Webber released the vehicle and passenger to a licensed driver.

10:39 - A grandmother advised that her juvenile grandson left a voicemail on her phone that was just received this morning. In the voicemail, he was screaming and threatening to hurt himself. Sgt. Jace attempted a welfare check on the grandson at his residence on Hwy 77 North, but no one was home.

10:46 - Dispatch transferred a 911 call to Giddings PD for a possible homicide at an address on South Main Street. All Lee County units responded to assist. Ranger Barina and Lt. Adams remained on scene to assist while other units cleared the scene.

11:02 - A 911 hang-up call was received from Buc-ees near the gas pumps. Deputy Dickerson checked the area but was unable to locate the caller.

13:09 - Deputy Dickerson was dispatched to FM 141 for an abandoned vehicle. The caller stated that a maroon Chevrolet Suburban was sitting in the 1900 block of the farm to market road. The deputy located the vehicle and red tagged it.

14:16 - A 911 caller advised of an accident on Hwy 77 near Rockdale Street in Lexington with one patient pinned in. Sgt. Jones, Deputy Dickerson, Chief Garza, Trooper Ntabo and Trooper McCoy all responded to the scene. EMS and Lexington VFD also responded. EMS transported one patient to Austin. Tillery's and B&M took possession of two vehicles. DPS took the crash report.

18:45 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up from an address on West Bowers Avenue in dime box. Sgt. Holloway responded t and checked the area. Everything was secure. No signs of anyone or suspicious activity.

18:52 - Deputy Dudley was dispatched to a residence on Gary Street in Lexington for a disturbance.  The caller stated that her husband bought some items from a male subject only to find out it wasn't the subjects to sell. The deputy separated the parties. The husband gave the items back to the male subject and did not wish to pursue any charges. No report at this time.

22:51 - Sgt. Holloway requested contact information for a resident on FM 141 due to the property owner's German Shepherds being loose. Dispatch was able to obtain contact information for the property owner's brother. Sgt. Holloway made contact with the brother who was made aware of the situation.

23:38 - Giddings PD advised of a disturbance at a business on East Hempstead Street. Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley, Deputy Kocurek, and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD with the disturbance. A male subject was taken into custody by Giddings PD and brought to the Lee County Jail for booking by Sgt. Holloway and Deputy Dudley.

 

March 31, 2023

00:00 - A motorist requested assistance with her disabled vehicle on Hwy 21 near FM 1624. She stated that she could not get the tire off the vehicle. Deputy Kocurek responded and requested next rotation wrecker. Govan's towed the vehicle to the Walch Store.

02:31 - Dispatch received a 911 hang up from an address on Hwy 77 South. Attempts were made to make contact via phone but no answer. Deputy Dudley and Deputy E. Hilmo responded to the address and advised everything was okay.

03:27 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out with an abandoned vehicle in the 4300 block of Hwy 21. Vehicle was red tagged.

06:10 - A follow up welfare check was conducted on a juvenile at an address on Hwy 77 North. Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown made contact with the juvenile who advised he was okay. CPS also made contact yesterday.

06:38 - Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown were dispatched to Hwy 77 at Hwy 21 to assist with a three-vehicle accident. The caller advised two occupants appeared to be trapped. EMS, Lincoln VFD and Giddings VFD also responded to the scene. DPS Sgt. Weiser, Trooper Ntabo and Trooper McCoy took the crash report. Two patients were transported to area hospitals.

08:21 - Lee County EMS reported a Jeep that appear to have gone through a fence on FM 141 near PR 5005. No one appeared to be around the vehicle. Sgt. Strouth located the vehicle and a driver's license inside of the vehicle. The property owner was notified of the damage. Lexington Auto took possession of the vehicle and a report was taken.

09:33 - A complainant on CR 329 advised that someone dumped two dogs off on his property. They were attacking his cats and eating their food. He wanted them removed from his property. Deputy Haman met with the complainant and advised him that we could not take the strays. The deputy would make contact with Bastrop County animal shelter to see if they will take the dogs.

10:37 - Deputy J. Brown met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office regarding stolen checks.  Information was gathered for a report.

11:41 - Bastrop County advised of a two-vehicle minor accident on Hwy 290 east of FM 180. There were no injuries reported, and both vehicles were off the roadway. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown assisted Trooper Ntabo with the accident. DPS took the crash report.

11:54 - Brinks Securities reported a residential burglar alarm at an address on PR 7707. Sgt. Strough, Deputy Haman, Deputy J. Brown and Deputy Webber checked the residence, and everything was secured.

15:06 - A motorist reported a reckless driver Hwy 77 passing CR 415 going southbound. The vehicle is swerving all over the roadway and almost caused a head on collision. Deputy Haman and Chief Garza searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

16:30 - Sgt. Strough was out with a vehicle that was blocking the acceleration lane of Hwy 77 at Hwy 21. The owner walked up to the scene and advised the car battery is dead. A courtesy ride was given to the owner and an occupant to Auto Zone and then back to the scene. The vehicle is off the roadway.

17:32 - An abandoned vehicle was located in the 1500 block of Hwy 21. Sgt. Strouth red tagged the vehicle and advised he was able to secure the vehicle. It will be off the roadway.

18:03 - Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to an address on Hwy 77 North for a child custody issue. The child was exchanged without any further issues.

20:13 - A complainant came into the Sheriff's Office to speak with a deputy about hearing that her ex-boyfriend was on his way to her house to kill her and her kids until he was in an accident. Deputy J. Hilmo spoke with the complainant and information was taken for a report.

20:20 - Deputy Crenshaw responded to a call about a possible fire on FM 180 near Hwy 290. The area was checked but no fire was located. A control burn was later called in to the Sheriff's Office.

20:26 - A caller reported a red cow out on FM 1624 at CR 339. Deputy Crenshaw checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

21:19 - Dispatch received a call about multiple cows out on FM 696 East near the Burleson County line. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

23:35 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 21 on the east side of Dime Box traveling eastbound. No units were in the area, and information was passed on to Burleson County.

23:59 - Deputy Crenshaw was dispatched to FM 696 East near PR 7006 for a white bull out on the roadway. The area was checked but no loose livestock was located.

 

April 1, 2023

00:02 - Life360 called in a possible accident near the 4200 block of Hwy 77. Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area up to Hwy 21 and did not locate an accident.

01:35 - Deputy Crenshaw assisted Giddings PD at an address on East Austin Street with a subject that was found stealing ice. The store owner did not wish to press charges.

01:50 - Deputy J. Hilmo and Deputy Crenshaw checked out with Giddings PD in the area of Hwy 77 and FM 448 after hearing gunshots. Units stayed in the area and did not hear anymore gunshots.

01:53 - Dispatch received a 911 call from an Apple watch stating the owner of the watch had been in an accident near the 1700 block of CR 121. Dispatch made contact with the owner who advised there were no injuries and only one vehicle involved. Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the scene. Govan's took possession of the vehicle per owner's request. A crash report was taken.

08:59 - Deputy J. Brown responded to a call about multiple cows out on CR 113 just before the metal bridge. The cows were located and removed from the roadway.

10:47 - A caller requested assistance with unlocking their vehicle at Veterans Park in Giddings. The caller's two-year-old locked himself and the keys in the vehicle. Deputy J. Brown responded and was able to unlock the vehicle.

12:07 - Washington County passed on a call about a reckless driver headed westbound on Hwy 290 coming out of Carmine. The Chevrolet Camaro was speeding and failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. Deputy J. Brown checked the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.

12:45 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to an address on North Main Street in Giddings to assist with a vehicle unlock. The caller advised that his dog was in the vehicle and managed to lock the doors with the keys in it. The vehicle was unlocked.

12:50 - A complainant from Hope Street came into the Sheriff's Office to speak to a deputy about a possible scam. Sgt. Strouth met with the complainant and information was taken for a report.

16:01 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless driver on Hwy 290 East.  The caller stated that a box truck was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic, and almost hit the caller. A Giddings PD unit observed this and has the unit pulled over at Hwy 290 and CR 138. Sgt. Strouth responded and made scene with the Giddings PD unit. The paper tag on the box truck was tampered with, and the driver did not have a CDL. The driver would wait for a license driver.

17:35 - Giddings PD received a hit on license plate reader for a possible stolen vehicle traveling west bound on Hwy 290. All Lee County units responded and stopped the vehicle. The driver was questioned and found to be the owner of the vehicle. The vehicle was improperly entered as stolen. The driver was released. No report was taken.

17:45 - A motorist reported a trail ride going down FM 3403 in between Hwy 77 and Hwy 21. The motorist stated that the riders were riding down the middle of the road. Deputy Crenshaw responded and advised that the riders were abiding by the rules.

20:07 - Deputy J. Hilmo was dispatched to an address on CR 127 in reference to individuals that are not wanted on the property. The property owner stated that two juveniles kept showing up to the property. The juveniles and parents were advised to not return to the property. Information was taken for a report.

20:24 - A caller advised they were concerned about a brush pile on fire behind the golf course near CR 227. Deputy Crenshaw made contact with an individual and advised it was a control burn.

22:12 - A complainant on Shady Oaks Street reported that a male subject came to her residence trying to fight with her juvenile son. Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded and located the subject at the Travel Plaza. He was advised to not return to the residence and was issued a criminal trespass warning.

22:40 - Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to a call about an animal complaint. The caller advised that an injured and starving dog came to their residence on FM141. The dog was taken to the Giddings Animal Shelter.  

 

April 2, 2023

01:06 - A homeowner on Cherry Drive in Lexington reported that she could see someone on her cameras trying to get into her residence. The homeowner stated that she was not home at the time. Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo checked the area and did not locate any suspicious person or activity. All was secured.

01:11 - Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded the Hwy 77 and CR 405 for a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that a black Chevrolet Tahoe with red and blue lights was trying to pull vehicles over in the area. The caller then called back and stated she saw them switch into a square body White Ford truck. The deputies checked the area but did not locate any vehicles matching the descriptions.

01:33 - Deputy Crenshaw advised that a subject flagged him down stating he had just hit a cow on Hwy 77 North near FM 696 East. An attempt was made to locate the owner of the cow but was unsuccessful. No crash report was taken.

07:59 - A property owner on CR 308 reported that someone drove through his fence during the night causing damage. The property owner advised he did find a license plate. Deputy J. Brown met with the property owner, and information was taken for a report. Information on the vehicle was passed on to Bastrop County.

09:45 - Deputy Haman assisted with an oversized loan on Hwy 77 near FM 3403. The load was trying to get onto the roadway. The deputy assisted with traffic control so the load could head north on Hwy 77.

11:01 - Govan's requested help with moving a trailer from FM 696 onto Hwy 77 North. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown assisted without any issues.

12:45 - A motorist reported an elderly man in the middle of the roadway on Hwy 77 at the Hwy 21 overpass. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown responded and located the subject. The subject advised that he lost his wallet off of his car and was looking for it. The deputies assisted with looking for the wallet but were unsuccessful. The subject was going to stay in the area to continue searching for the wallet.

13:30 - Dispatch received a call about a reckless motorcycle going south bound on Hwy 77 near the Giddings city limits. Deputy J. Brown searched the area for the motorcycle but was unable to locate it. Information was passed onto Giddings PD.

15:02 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to the 2300 block of CR 412 for a cow put. The complainant spoke with Sgt. Strouth about the cows being out all the time. Deputy J. Brown searched the area for the cow but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

15:20 - Deputy Haman was out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 290 West near CR 205. Everything was okay, and the vehicle was back on the roadway.

19:25 - A motorist reported multiple cows out on Hwy 77 North just south of Lexington. Deputy J. Hilmo located the cows and secured them off the roadway.

22:55 - Cpl. West, Deputy Crenshaw and Deputy J. Hilmo responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Methodist Church on FM 696 West. The caller believed it was her friend's ex-boyfriend who they have had problems with in the past. The driver was identified and asked to leave the area.

23:35 - A caller reported a black SUV that had been following him on CR 118. The caller was advised to drive to the Giddings Fire Station to have a Giddings PD officer meet him due to all county units being on a call. Cpl. West and Deputy Crenshaw checked the area once they were available. They were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

23:42 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a suspicious vehicle parked partially in the roadway on CR 309 near FM 696 West. Owner was contacted and vehicle was moved safely off the roadway until the tire could be changed.
