LEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S REPORT

2/19/2024

Motorist reported signs damaged on CR 424. Deputy responded to investigate.

Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting a semi-truck/trailer overturned on SH 21 blocking the entire highway. Deputies, Troopers, Lincoln Fire, and Lee County EMS responded.

Deputies assisted with funeral escort in Dime Box.

Sergeant conducted a requested welfare check at a residence on SH 21. Sergeant located the individual and summoned LCEMS.

Deputy located and stopped a reported reckless driver on Hwy 290 East.

Deputy and Dime Box Fire responded to CR 442 for smoke. Determined to be a controlled burn.

Deputy patrolled CR 227 for a vehicle driving slowly and playing loud music. Unable to locate.

Deputies conducted warrant service on Ave. E. One male subject arrested and transported to Lee County Jail without incident.

Dispatch received an automated crash detection alert on SH 21. Deputies, Troopers, Giddings and Lincoln Fire, and LCEMS responded to the scene.

Deputies assisted Giddings PD with a report of an intoxicated driver at a convenience store on Hwy 290 East. The driver did not display signs of intoxication.

 

2/20/2024 

Caller reported damaged signs on CR 426. Deputy responded to investigate.

Deputies and Constable Pct. 3 responded to a requested welfare check on FM 696 West. Contact was made with individual.

Deputy took report of suspect dumping tires on PR 4264. Suspect vehicle details gathered for report.

Deputy removed road hazard at SH 21/5th St in Lincoln.

Deputies patrolled CR 135 for a report of a suspicious vehicle. No suspicious activity observed.

 

2/21/2024

Deputies assisted with funeral escort in Giddings.

Deputies and Constable Pct. 3 responded to CR 410 on a report of two male subjects arguing outside. The matter was resolved.

Caller reported a trailer crashed through their fence on CR 118. Deputy and Trooper responded to investigate.

Sergeant located an abandoned dump truck on CR 121. Owner located and truck removed from roadway.

Caller requested a patrol for a vehicle that parked in their driveway for a short time, then drove off on CR 208. Deputy patrolled the area, unable to locate.

 

2/22/2024

Complainant reported his truck stolen from CR 226. Deputies responded to investigate.

Complainant reported his truck stolen from CR 230. Deputies responded to investigate.

Sheriff, Chief Deputy, and Investigators worked on the stolen vehicle cases.

Motorist reported a stalled vehicle on Hwy 290 West. Sheriff and Deputy responded.

Deputies responded to Giddings St. in Lexington for a reported crisis intervention. The matter was resolved.

 

2/23/2024

Sheriff provided courtesy ride to one juvenile to Lexington school.

Deputies and Constable Pct. 2 conducted felony warrant service on South Polk St. in Giddings. One male suspect arrested without incident.

Deputy checked on male acting strange on CR 404. The subject ran out of fuel and was waiting on a friend.

Deputies and Constables Pct. 2 and Pct. 4 conducted felony warrant service after a traffic stop on FM 3403. One male suspect arrested without incident.

Deputies responded to assist Adult Protective Services at a residence on FM 180. Deputies and Sheriff arrived and 3 ½ pounds of marihuana was seized after a search. The evidence was seized and secured at the sheriff's office. Criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Caller reported a male subject jumped their fence and was knocking on their door. The caller was away from home at the time. Deputy and Trooper responded and located the individual who was served with a criminal trespass notice.

Sergeant conducted close patrol on CR 228 and observed an open door. The resident was notified and all was okay.

Caller reported an injured dog on Main St. in Lexington. Deputy located dog and it was transported to animal shelter in Giddings.

Deputy stopped out with a car parked in the middle of the Hwy 290/Hwy 77 intersection at 10:30pm. Motorist informed the Deputy they had stopped to take a picture. The Deputy discouraged the motorist from such.

Deputies responded to Westwood Lane on a report of a large disturbance. Upon arrival, the issue was verbal only and the parties were separated. The aggressor of the incident was served with a criminal trespass notice.

Motorist reported he crashed into a cow on FM 696 West. Deputies responded to work the crash.

 

2/24/2024

Caller on PR 7011 reported livestock on their property that didn't belong to them. Deputy was able to locate and contact the appropriate owner.

Caller reported a missing person from his residence on FM 141. The elderly gentleman with medical issues was not home where he was supposed to be. Deputies responded to the scene to investigate. Sheriff and Constable Pct. 2 responded with the ATV, Game Warden with Drone, DPS Troopers, and Giddings Fire responded to assist in the search. The man was located approx. 45 minutes later on a nearby property. He was checked out by LCEMS and returned to family members.

Deputy responded to CR 117 to attempt to locate a suspicious white Tahoe. The vehicle was gone upon arrival.

While on close patrol of CR 228 at 8:30pm, Sergeant found a male subject laying in front of a vehicle. Sergeant summoned LCEMS for the victim who had an injury to his head. Another male subject came out of a residence to intervene. This subject was arrested and transported to Lee County Jail for assault. The injured party declined medical treatment.

Dispatch received a 911 call that pinged on North Dallas St. in Giddings. The caller reported a man with a gun. Deputies responded to assist Giddings PD. A vehicle was located and no suspicious or criminal activity was reported.

Deputy assisted citizen with a vehicle unlock on Hwy 290 East.

Caller reported suspicious vehicle parked at an oilfield entrance on CR 226. Deputy responded and located the vehicle. Deputy issued citations to the occupants and released them.

Deputies responded to a crisis intervention on PR 1339. One female transported by LCEMS.

Caller reported loud music at neighbor's property on FM 2239. Caller tried calling neighbor with no success. Sergeant responded and noted numerous vehicles but no more loud music.

 

2/25/2024

Deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the ditch on CR 226. Deputy located the vehicle, which had swerved to miss an animal and became stuck. Wrecker was summoned.

Complainant came to the Office to meet with a Deputy to report harassment. Report taken.

Motorist reported a two-vehicle crash on FM 696 East. Deputies and Troopers responded to the scene. DPS made crash report.

Complainant from FM 180 called to report a theft of two air compressors from their property. Deputy responded to investigate and make theft report.

Caller reported a vehicle that crashed through the fence at SH 21/FM 2440. Deputy and Trooper responded to the scene. DPS made crash report.

Caller from CR 306 called to report someone pouring concrete on their property. Deputy responded to meet with the individual.

Motorist reported a reckless driver on FM 112.

While responding to the aforementioned call, a Deputy on patrol advised that he was involved in a crash with another vehicle on 7th Street in Lexington. The Deputy was removed from the patrol vehicle by Lexington Fire. All persons involved were transported by LCEMS with non-life threatening injuries. Sheriff, Chief Deputy, Deputies, Lexington Police Chief responded to the scene. Crash investigated and reported by DPS Troopers.

Dispatch received a report of an active disturbance with multiple persons involved at a convenience store on SH 21 in Old Dime Box. A second 911 call reported knives were involved in the assault. Deputies and Troopers responded to the scene. A male and female were arrested at the scene. A3rd suspect who had fled the scene, was located near Bowers St. in a vehicle. This suspect fled of foot before being apprehended by Deputies. The trio was transported to the Lee County Jail.

On-duty Jail Staff reported a disturbance in the Jail, with one male inmate running out of his assigned cell during the distribution of library books. All on-duty Deputies were on the previous call, so Giddings PD was dispatched to assist. The inmate was subdued in the Jail hallway, but not before assaulting a Jailer. The Jailer was transported for medical treatment and the inmate was secured in the violent cell. Charges of assault on a public servant are to be filed.

Citizen came to the Office to speak with a Deputy in regard to a juvenile matter.

 

Amongst all of their patrol duties, Lee County Deputies returned numerous loose livestock to pasture and conducted 117 traffic enforcement stops for this reporting period.

 

We urge all of our citizens to make a routine of locking vehicles, homes, and outbuildings each night. We have to remain alert and vigilant against the criminals who come to Lee County with the goal of victimizing our citizens. Be sure to go out the Lee County Junior Livestock Show and support all of our local youth this week.
